Chapter 503: The Difference Between a Game and Here

Jesse opened this book, finding some scribbled records in it. There were markings in a common language, but most of the writing was in Demonic. Even with Jesse’s level of Demonic, he could roughly understand many names of places and people written on it, along with brief notes about these elements.

Next to these elements, there were some very basic symbol illustrations, likely used to indicate the relative geographical positions of these elements.

Jesse even noticed that a considerable portion of the book described locations near Grim Batol, as well as the war between the Dark Iron Dwarves and Blackrock Orcs near Blackrock Mountain… It even mentioned Tirisfal in the kingdom of Lordaeron, which was Jesse’s homeland.

But why would a mage use Demonic to write things?

So, this notebook isn’t really for this mage?

Jesse glanced at Greed, who was struggling to shake a handle, and at the nearly one-third full small glass bottle, feeling a vague sense of excitement inside.

This excitement was not only because this mage’s participation in the power of dead spirits could accumulate such a large amount of Essence of Undeath, but also because he felt that this notebook was extraordinary.

The Kirin Tor established The Violet Eye to explore Karazhan, and their primary goal in exploring Karazhan is to find the countless treasures accumulated here by Medivh and his mother Aegwynn… Could this notebook be related to the treasures?

"Saenor, come here and help me see what this passage says."

Imp bounced over, with the Felhound continuously gnawing on corpses nearby, pressed the book to the ground and carefully looked at it for a while, saying, "This writing is really hard to read, it’s definitely not Demonic written by a demon!"

After looking for a while, he said, "Ah… haha… this passage records a clue about an ancient artifact, related to Orcs, dwarves, and a dwarf civil war hundreds of years ago. The person who wrote these words wants to find this thing, but obviously, these notes are too rough, there are no details at all, I don’t think he can find it!"

"The evil weapon of the witch Modgud." Greed raised his head and said, "Could this mage be trying to find that legendary evil weapon?!"

"Modgud, Modgud!" imp pointed to one of the words and said, "So this word means this, ah, it seems like you know quite a bit about it, fatty!"

"I certainly know a lot, you darn imp." Greed stared at him and said, "This thing destroyed the homeland of my ancestors!"

Jesse knows more than anyone who wrote this book, even more than Greed.

Clearly, these words point to the ancient remains left by Sarah Tas, the body that wielded the blade of the Dark Empire, causing countless killings and horrors.

If you know less than Jesse, there is even less hope of finding this dagger, but with this information, Jesse at least knows what this book is for.

Is this a treasure hunting guide?

Does this thing belong to the Dark Servants of Medivh, those fallen undead treasure hunters?

This somewhat explains why this book has not decayed due to death magic, as it was carried by a group of undead after all!

So, this Kirin Tor Mage found this record, but unfortunately died…

Or did he die first and then found this book? After all, even after the mage’s death, he still sought various treasures. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been tracking Jesse and Greed along with the power of the Living Ice Crystals.

But that’s not important anymore.

Jesse flipped through a few more pages of messy speculations related to Sarah Tas, and then he came across a record of a treasure called the Nielas Aran’s Soothing Gem, described as a pure blue giant magical stone used to strengthen magic power.

Its hidden location is in the Wizard’s Sanctum, guarded by a mage named Al’Fred Vanburen. According to the record, he was Nielas Aran’s apprentice and died in the Orc War, so the gem is currently neglected.

Al’Fred Vanburen. Jesse seemed to have some memory of this name. Wasn’t the discounted fireproof short robe at Duncan’s Clothing Store for 7 gold coins belonging to this mage?

He wasn’t quite sure. But the name of the gem had been roughly crossed out and marked as "acquired."

In other words, the group of Treasure Hunters loyal to Medivh had actually sneaked into the Wizard’s Sanctum and stolen the treasure of Medivh’s father, Nielas Aran?

It’s not so surprising after all. In the game, "Aran’s Soothing Gem" is one of the drops from the Karazhan BOSS, the Shade of Aran, which already explains a lot.

Since he was already in Karazhan, Jesse didn’t need to think too much. He continued to flip through, passing several names of familiar weapons or equipment that had already been found, including a black dagger named "Fateless," enchanted armor and sword of the Wrynn royal family, and a legendary corrupt ring with terrifying power belonging to the demon "Scarless."

Then he turned to a page marked with a special demon blood symbol, with only a demonic name written on it, without any common language note.

"U.. l…th…" he tried to pronounce.

Ulthalesh?

Jesse knew this name, it was the painful warlock’s artifact in the game, a terrifying soul scythe.

Ulthalesh was the name of a Nathrezim Dread Lord who ruled a demon world countless years ago, and this weapon was forged with its soul…

Of course, he also knew that this weapon had already been found and claimed by Medivh’s Treasure Hunter.

To obtain it in the game, one had to enter the underground crypts of Karazhan and defeat the powerful leader of the Treasure Hunters.

Jesse had thought before about entering Karazhan someday to find this warlock’s artifact, but of course, at that time, such fantasies seemed as far-fetched as his initial plan when he first arrived, to try to seduce all the beautiful women across Azeroth.

Of course, it wasn’t that far off now either.

Flipping further, the information about this demonic scythe was already a few pages later in this manual.

But suddenly he realized that Ulthalesh’s name had not been crossed out.

This means… that at this moment, these Treasure Hunters have not found this weapon yet!

Jesse knows that the game content takes place several years, even twenty years later in the late game!

He felt his heartbeat beating faster with every creak of Greed’s hand, glancing at the nearly full Essence of Undeath bottle…

To find this demonic weapon faster than Medivh’s servant hunters, he needed to understand demons better than them.

Step by step.
