Chapter 512
byChapter 512: Everything in the World Can Be Priced
The Salty Sailor Tavern was lively and noisy, especially chaotic in the evening. When Molofeel, a demon, appeared at the door without drawing much attention from the crowd.
Greed was surprised to see that demons were not uncommon in the tavern. He had just left the elf’s house and was a bit worried when asked to bring his succubus out for a walk.
"It’s the opposite outside," Jesse said. "Having a demon with you in Booty Bay will save you a lot of trouble. People will know not to mess with you."
The dwarf nodded and glanced at the succubus, saying, "I believe that."
Just then, a goblin ran over and shouted, "Please put away your weapons, Miss Demon!"
Seeing no response from the succubus, he turned to Greed and said, "Hey, sir, tell your demon servant not to wave weapons around here…"
The dwarf glanced at Jesse, who nodded at Molofeel. The succubus hid the black blade behind her back. The goblin seemed surprised that the warlock with the demon servant was human-like.
"We have booked rooms here," Greed said solemnly to the goblin sommelier. "And it’s two rooms."
"Oh, then tell me your name, dwarf!" the goblin said. "I’ll go ask the boss for you!"
"Greed Thunderfist," Greed said, glancing at Jesse before stopping himself from saying more.
"Jurke," Jesse said. "Or Jack Slovakia, could you both take a look?"
The goblin nodded, then squeezed through the crowd. Greed asked curiously, "What kind of name is Jack Slovakia…?"
"I made it up on a whim when I arrived in Booty Bay," Jesse casually remarked. "Don’t dwell on this name, it doesn’t have any special meaning."
Suddenly, cheers and hoarse laughter erupted from a corner of the tavern. Curious, Jesse glanced over and saw a group of people competing in axe-throwing, including humans, dwarves, and even a few trolls.
At that moment, a bald troll was holding a small axe, staring intently at a large wooden target. A goblin on the target was giving it all he had, trying to pull out a small axe lodged in the bullseye.
"Would you like to join?" Greed asked Jesse, nudging him with his shoulder.
"Honestly, I’m not very interested," Jesse replied, looking at the others. "You want me to compete against those trolls to see who can throw an axe more accurately?"
"Mr. Greed and Mr. Jurke, your rooms are ready!" exclaimed a goblin in a light purple suit, with a sharp nose, big ears, and a yellow hat on his head. He looked like he could have run away from a circus.
Following the goblin up to the top floor of The Salty Sailor Tavern to the room arranged by Reliquary, Jesse was surprised to find he could actually see the entire "ocean view" of Booty Bay.
Although the cabin still looked like a ship cabin, all the wooden and metal furniture was beautifully decorated, like a room prepared for nobles or merchants, which didn’t quite match the name of "The Salty Sailor Tavern".
Maybe it was originally for sailors, but as time went on, more and more people wanted to stay here. They started raising the prices to secure a room. Eventually, the rooms here became a place specifically prepared for wealthy merchants coming to Booty Bay.
If Reliquary didn’t pay, Jesse would never want to spend money to stay in a place like this.
After packing up their belongings, the two returned to the hallway. Greed raised an eyebrow and gestured towards his own room, Jesse nodded. Both thought the rooms here looked kind of nice but not quite right.
"I’m going to sell the Essence of Undeath to my goblin friend," Jesse said. "Are you coming with me?"
"No," Greed replied. "I’m going down to play axes."
"Do you need to pay for it?" Jesse asked.
Greed said, "I asked that goblin earlier. There’s a small registration fee, but if you win a prize, you’ll get a little bonus! Don’t worry, I’m going to make money!"
"Okay then," Jesse sighed. "Just don’t gamble, Greed. I don’t want to spend all our travel money before we even leave for Kalimdor."
"I only bet with friends!" Greed tapped Jesse’s shoulder and said, "Go ahead with confidence!"
Jesse reluctantly nodded.
Leaving The Salty Sailor Tavern, Jesse climbed all the way up to the top of Booty Bay and arrived at Bucks Miserheld’s alchemy lab. He saw the guy using a crowbar to open a wooden chest, curious about what was inside.
"Mr. Miserheld!"
"Hmm… If it isn’t you, Mr. Slovakia. It’s almost been two months since last time. I thought you might have died, or even worse, forgotten about my matter!"
"Essence of Undeath Collector Model 5." Jesse placed the box on the ground and said, "Why didn’t you tell me this thing needs to be charged?"
"It’s clearly written in the manual!" Miserheld said innocently.
"The Goblin Language manual?"
"You’re a mage and you don’t know Goblin Language?"
"Is Goblin Language an important language?"
"Oh my, your words have hurt my race’s honor! It was already fragile enough!" the goblin chuckled as he walked over, lifted a box, and said, "Charging this device is a small matter, I know you mages always find a way, right? You must have obtained the Essence of Undeath by now."
Jesse took out three bottles from his pocket and said, "One bottle costs at least 6 gold coins, Mr. Miserheld. Two full bottles, this half bottle will be 3 gold coins for you. The trouble on this journey far exceeds your imagination."
"You managed to get so many!" Miserheld asked in surprise, "You didn’t rush into Karazhan to catch ghosts, did you?"
"15 gold coins for all of these," Jesse said.
The goblin hid his astonishment, glanced at the purple bottles in Jesse’s hands, nodded, and said, "This price is acceptable, consider it a recognition of your bravery! I went to see Pucodyaz before, he said when he saw you, he felt you were someone who could help him. He even planned to let me investigate who you really are, but since you are now practically my partner, I can’t do something like betraying a friend."
"It means he didn’t pay you enough," Jesse said.
"Ha, that’s not bad, after all, everything in this world can be priced, Mr. Slovakia," Miserheld laughed and returned to his Alchemy Room. He took out a heavy small purse and handed it to Jesse, saying, "Count them, 15 gold coins."
Jesse weighed it, opened it and said, "No problem, a pleasure to work with you, Mr. Bucks Miserheld."
