Chapter 530: The Mountain Collapse

At the command of the long-faced disciple, the seven members of the Purple Palace dispersed, encircling the Evil Nest atop the mountain.

With practiced ease, they summoned their respective spirit tools and flying swords, beginning to channel their magical energy.

Before taking action, Senior Brother Chen glanced in the direction where Wang Chen had departed, a flicker of pity crossing his heart.

He had discovered this Evil Nest and led his team to besiege it.

Senior Brother Chen hadn’t anticipated that Wang Chen would arrive first and clear the surrounding black nests.

Initially, he thought that if Wang Chen understood the situation, he wouldn’t mind putting in a good word for him, allowing everyone to share in the spoils.

After all, this area was Wang Chen’s territory for expansion, and their actions were an overreach.

But he never expected Wang Chen to be so unyielding, turning away without a word.

This left Senior Brother Chen feeling uneasy and thinking that Wang Chen was quite ungracious; no wonder he had clashed with the alliance meeting.

No matter!

Focusing on the Evil Nest ahead, Senior Brother Chen pushed thoughts of Wang Chen aside.

“Attack!”

As soon as the long-faced disciple’s voice fell, the seven members of the Purple Palace unleashed their spirit tools and flying swords in unison.

Seals, hammers, cudgels, whips, swords…

One by one, the spirit tools radiated a kaleidoscope of colors, all striking toward the Evil Nest.

With the combined efforts of the seven members and the destructive power of their spirit tools and flying swords, this attack rivaled the strength of a Golden Core initial stage.

Boom!

The Evil Nest was defenseless against the barrage of spirit tools, resulting in a massive explosion.

Countless shards flew in all directions, mingling with the black, noxious venom.

Senior Brother Chen and the others were prepared, casting wind control spells to disperse the incoming debris and venom.

By now, the upper part of the Evil Nest was completely obliterated, revealing a ten-zhang wide rocky pit filled with black-red sludge bubbling with toxic fumes.

“Again!”

The long-faced disciple commanded.

He formed a spell gesture, remotely controlling a dark golden long cudgel suspended in the air, sending it crashing down toward the Evil Nest once more.

This weapon, known as the Chen Jin Cudgel, was the long-faced disciple’s life-bound tool, a higher-level spirit tool.

He had refined it to the point where it felt like an extension of his own body—one strike could shatter mountains, its power was formidable.

Other disciples joined in, commanding their spirit tools to strike at the Evil Nest.

Their strategy for dealing with the Evil Nest was straightforward: attack from a distance with their spirit tools.

This method was not only efficient but also safe, maximizing the team’s collective strength.

Previously, the long-faced disciple and his companions had cleared two Evil Nests, reaping substantial rewards.

They were confident this time would be no different!

However, just as the long-faced disciple’s Chen Jin Cudgel was about to strike the Evil Nest, a surge of black sludge erupted from the pit, instantly engulfing the higher-level spirit tool.

The cudgel’s glow dimmed, and the venom, saturated with negative energy, splattered onto its surface, hissing violently as it began to corrode it severely.

The long-faced disciple’s expression turned to one of grave fear, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

The Chen Jin Cudgel was his connection to his spirit; any damage to it affected his spirit as well. With such a sudden and heavy blow, he immediately felt its impact.

He hurriedly tried to summon back his life spirit tool, only to realize he had lost contact with the Chen Jin Cudgel.

The venom spewing from the Evil Nest had completely engulfed the Chen Jin Cudgel.

Not only that, more venom surged into the sky, wrapping around the spirit tools and flying swords of the other cultivators!

“My flying sword!”

A cultivator let out a pained scream.

The flying sword was the ultimate spirit tool, often valued more than other spirit tools of the same rank. For a sword cultivator, the flying sword refined through hard work was like a second life.

Although this cultivator was not a pure sword cultivator, he had invested a considerable amount of effort into his flying sword.

He never expected that now it would be tainted by the venom from the Evil Nest, causing him enormous heartache.

The situation was similar for the other cultivators, and they were all left speechless.

Before they could feel the pain of their losses, the black venom surging into the sky rapidly took form as an ugly giant with arms and claws, growing long tentacles that lashed toward them.

One cultivator, caught off guard and in a daze, was struck and sent flying.

Fortunately, he had reinforced himself with a magical shield; otherwise, a blow like that would have shattered bones and tendons.

Even so, this cultivator landed heavily on the hillside, dazed and reeling, with his Qi and blood churning within.

What was worse was that he had gotten splattered with a significant amount of venom, causing his magical shield to sizzle ominously!

While other cultivators were not as badly off, their situations were not much better. Under the fierce assault of the venomous giant, they retreated in disarray, completely defeated.

Boom!

At that moment, the Evil Nest suddenly erupted in a violent explosion.

Large spurts of black sludge shot up dozens of zhang high, as if a volcano had erupted.

One giant after another materialized from the sludge!

They emitted terrifying roars, all rushing toward Senior Brother Chen and the others.

“Quick, retreat!”

Seeing this, the long-faced disciple felt a rush of fear. He shouted as he quickly slapped a talisman onto himself.

With a flash of spiritual light, he vanished from sight.

However, the next moment, the long-faced disciple reappeared several steps away.

It was as if he had crashed into an invisible wall; blood gushed from his mouth and nose, and his eyes were filled with terror.

The spiritual escape talisman had failed!

The reason was quite simple: the surrounding space was filled with negative energy so thick it felt suffocating.

Just like during a negative energy surge, when all spells and spirit tools are disrupted, the talisman he had activated was severely affected, causing its effect to be fleeting like a flash in the pan!

“No!”

He let out a reluctant roar as he leaped into the air.

However, just as the long-faced disciple took flight, a gigantic black hand came crashing down.

Smack!

He couldn’t dodge in time and was slapped back to the ground.

His magical shield shattered instantly!

Before he could rise, a black giant roared and lunged at him.

The sky filled with venom obscured this member of the Purple Palace’s vision!

“Ah!”

Screams echoed like a chorus; the mountaintop had turned into a hellish inferno!

At that same moment, Wang Chen, who had just returned to the Wei Hall, felt a disturbance and turned to look toward the mountains.

His gaze sharpened.

In the distance, among the undulating mountain range, a mass of black negative energy surged skyward, twisting and contorting, utterly horrifying.

Even from dozens of miles away, Wang Chen could sense the evil aura emanating from that place.

Something had happened!

Wang Chen was sure that the spot where the black negative energy had appeared was the location of the Evil Nest he had discovered earlier.

Thinking of Senior Brother Chen and the other cultivators who had gone to “claim the monster,” Wang Chen felt that they were likely in grave danger!

Boom!

The ground shook violently, and a mountain peak in the distance started to collapse.

The aura of malevolence grew even stronger!
