Chapter 294: "Colleagues" Clash

Without a moment to spare for further thought, Wang Xiao swiftly determined his direction and soared toward the target location indicated by the broadcast.

Behind him, "Weightlessness" continued to cast spells on the superpowered individuals, some of whom possessed the ability to fly or had alternative means of movement. Unwilling to wait for the pudgy figure to assist them, they either took off on their own or deftly maneuvered to keep pace with Wang Xiao.

Glancing back, he caught a glimpse of a few familiar faces, including Ink Drench, with whom he had collaborated just days prior.

*No way, even someone like her is here? Aren’t they worried the entire inner city will be wiped out?*

Wang Xiao silently muttered to himself. Though he thought this, he knew that if a Fifth Level extraordinary beast were to invade the inner city, Ink Drench’s abilities—whether activated or not—would hardly make a difference in the final casualty count.

He pressed on, and within seconds, a blood-red figure streaked past him from above, leaving a dazzling trail in its wake.

The figure suddenly turned mid-air, locking eyes with Wang Xiao for a brief, intense moment.

Then, without a word, they parted ways, each continuing on their own path.

“Who was that?”

Wang Xiao wondered as the figure flew overhead. He had sensed something unusual about them—a quality that felt both familiar and foreign. It was unfamiliar because he couldn’t quite place it, yet familiar because it reminded him of a sensation he had experienced before…

*At Dr. Lin’s mental health clinic!*

Meanwhile, the “Blood Puppet” soaring through the sky also felt a flicker of surprise. In his current state, his five senses were entirely blocked, leaving him reliant solely on his powerful, independently perceptive blood.

*What kind of superpowered individual could momentarily unsettle my blood?*

The Blood Puppet couldn’t comprehend it, but he chose not to dwell on it. His brain was already faltering due to insufficient blood supply, and if he wanted to remain conscious, he had to stop thinking and simply observe.

This was the price of his superpower, the heavy cost of his abilities, and the origin of his codename, "Blood Puppet."

When his power activated, his body became a puppet to his own blood.

It was this very cost that had earned him the title of Captain of the superpowered second team.

As the Blood Puppet began his descent and accelerated, he—or rather, his blood—suddenly detected a target lurking in the shadows.

This detection wasn’t based on any human-like perception; instead, it seemed to tap into some kind of "field."

Yet, he and his blood remained a single entity, allowing them to share the information each perceived.

At that moment, the extraordinary beast hidden in the shadows crouched low, its long feathers like metal and stone tensed, ready to strike.

In the next instant, the blood-colored crystals encasing its body made a swift decision.

The wings formed from the crystals flapped vigorously, sending shards flying in all directions.

Amid the cacophony of shattering and crashing, the "Blood Puppet" landed gracefully, ready to begin his performance.

What followed was a simple yet dramatic landing, escalating the intensity of the battle between the two sides.

Amid the chaos of the battlefield, Lin Qingliu couldn’t help but feel that this fight was worth every second.

At that moment, ten superpowered individuals were relentlessly attacking him from every angle—above, below, front, back, and even from the shadows.

Not far above, another ten figures were descending from the sky. The sheer chaos was akin to a massive guild diving into a dungeon.

Lin Qingliu had every reason to believe that if the battlefield near the central spire could accommodate more fighters, even greater numbers would have joined the fray to capture him.

“Ding!”

The sharp beak clashed once more against the blood-colored crystalline long blade.

Including this blade form, the "Blood Puppet" before him had demonstrated six distinct combat postures, ranging from long-range to close-quarters, offensive to defensive, truly a master of weaponry.

At times, he would gather crystals at a distance to fire like a handheld cannon, and at others, he would engage in close combat. Whenever a gap appeared among the personnel, he would swiftly fill it.

Feeling a pang of regret that he had never encountered such a reliable teammate in his past life, Lin Qingliu dissolved into a swirl of chaos and vanished from his spot.

At that very moment, heavy rain began to pour from the sky.

This was part of Lin Qingliu’s long-planned debuff. It was midnight in November, and for superpowered individuals with weaker combat abilities, the heavy rain would undoubtedly cause some inconvenience.

Moreover, such an atmosphere was more fitting for the backdrop of a grand battle.

As for Lin Qingliu himself, he was now an extraordinary beast, completely unaffected by the downpour.

However, much like close-up magic that can easily be seen through from another angle, under the watchful gaze of dozens of eyes, even with the dual cover of rain and chaos, Lin Qingliu found it difficult to fully conceal himself.

The tide of the battlefield was turning against him.

He had anticipated this; after all, among the humans on the battlefield, there were four or five who had reached the Fifth Level, while the rest, apart from Wang Xiao, were mostly at the Fourth Level.

These individuals outnumbered him several times over, making it reasonable for Lin Qingliu to avoid causing any unnecessary harm.

He had certainly pondered when he would gain the strength to overturn the world. In terms of combat prowess, Lin Qingliu believed he needed at least two pathways to reach the Fifth Level.

With such power, he would no longer face risks in one-on-one battles, and even in a righteous mob attack like this, he could cut down enemies in droves without a second thought for life or death.

As he watched the group of humans relentlessly attacking him, Lin Qingliu kept track of the time.

How long could a true Fifth Level extraordinary beast endure such an onslaught?

He needed to simulate this carefully; after all, there were other important matters to attend to.

Just then, an angry roar reached his ears:

“Over here! Attack!”

Why does that voice sound so familiar?

Lin Qingliu turned his head sharply and saw Wang Xiao descending from above, swinging his righteous iron fist toward him.

Not my buddy…

Upon witnessing this reversal of roles, Lin Qingliu nearly couldn’t suppress a smile from his beak.

But he also knew that the other party was unaware of his true identity and was merely engaged in battle with extraordinary beasts.

Even so, why did he feel this overwhelming sense of being universally opposed?

It felt as if he had been betrayed by everyone; it was utterly absurd.

Fortunately, he was a hidden ally of justice, not some destined-to-be-abandoned villain boss.

But why was Wang Xiao, a Third Level individual, appearing on this battlefield?

As he fought, Lin Qingliu pondered this in his mind and finally formed a guess…

Could it be that this guy was summoned here because of his experience in hunting Fourth Level extraordinary beasts?
