Chapter 310: Biological Control

A week after the chaos in the inner city, a moderately sized beast tide seemed to arrive belatedly, gathering towards the city wall from the direction of the Holy Fire Meow Meow Cult’s camp.

A few extraordinary beasts that had surrendered remained true to their word. Before the beast tide emerged from the thick fog and forests on the horizon, they detected the rumbling footsteps and vibrations in the ground.

Under Fulan’s command, they efficiently conducted separate reconnaissance missions, compiling the gathered information for her. Fulan then took the initiative to provide Hope City with valuable intelligence for the first time.

This information was quickly observed by the soldiers stationed on the wall, who were specifically tasked with monitoring the Holy Fire Meow Meow Cult. They promptly reported it and swiftly confirmed its accuracy.

The rapid confirmation was possible because, by the time Fulan submitted the information, the cameras on the wall could already observe the basic scale of the beast tide.

In other words, the intelligence was accurate, but it wasn’t particularly useful.

It wouldn’t be fair to say it was entirely useless, though. This information, which arrived half an hour late, at least demonstrated Fulan’s willingness to cooperate with Hope City.

Setting aside the issue of timeliness, this intelligence was completely unaltered—not even a hint of tampering.

Such straightforward information almost left the reviewing staff with dry eye syndrome, and they could only sigh, remarking that extraordinary beasts still didn’t grasp the intricacies of human interactions.

But there was no time to dwell on it; the pressing task was to prepare for a new round of the city wall defense battle.

The presence of the Holy Fire Meow Meow Cult outside the wall was no secret to the city defense army stationed there.

Every day, watching these extraordinary creatures hunt or play had become an unavoidable part of the guards’ daily routine.

Everyone knew about this peculiar group of extraordinary beasts that had chosen to ally with humans against their own tribe.

In truth, people had their own interpretations of such matters.

The term "extraordinary beasts" was merely a general label for these creatures and didn’t imply they were all of the same kind.

Even humans themselves found it difficult to group together beings with such vastly different biological traits.

In response to the goodwill shown by Fulan and her extraordinary beasts, the humans on the wall chose to reciprocate.

They used launchers to hurl several cans of red spray paint beyond the red line.

This highly adhesive red spray paint could last for a considerable amount of time.

The humans explained that as long as the extraordinary beasts led by Fulan applied this paint visibly enough on themselves, they could enter the red line area and move closer to the wall once the battle against the beast tide began.

This permission was limited to combat time; as long as the markings were clear, the guards on the wall would not fire upon Fulan and her teammates.

As for the possibility of a soldier becoming overzealous or making a mistake…

Fulan didn’t ask, and the humans didn’t bring it up.

As the beast tide drew nearer, Fulan’s initially tense mind suddenly heard another voice.

This wasn’t her inner voice but rather Lin Qingliu, who, through their subtle connection, was sending a message directly into her thoughts.

Facing the approaching beast tide, Fulan interrupted Lin Qingliu, her voice trembling:

“Master, I’m a bit… preoccupied here.”

“What are you busy with?”

“Busy trying to survive.”

Lin Qingliu paused for a moment, skillfully masking a hint of awkwardness in his tone, while using Fulan’s eye to glance at the distant beast tide:

“Focus on that for now; we’ll talk later. There’s a task only you can handle.”

Lin Qingliu actively severed his connection with Fulan and began to further refine his plan.

Today is November 10th, or perhaps it’s the 11th?

Lin Qingliu hadn’t paid much attention to the specific date over the past few days, as there hadn’t been much business.

Ever since returning from the base of the spire, Lin Qingliu had been deep in thought.

With the help of Infinite Scroll and exploiting identity loopholes, he had created a Congressman Identity that could easily pass for real.

But now the problem was that there was no appropriate way to introduce this identity.

He couldn’t just suddenly appear at the entrance of the spire one day, confidently swipe his terminal to enter, and announce to the ten members:

“Thanks for managing my inheritance all this time. I’m back now, so you all can leave.”

Such a move, aside from the fact that Lin Qingliu could indeed outmaneuver these powerless individuals, would be reckless. He lacked a proper support team and wasn’t ready to face the strongest combatants in Hope City. Even if he somehow succeeded, it would only plunge Hope City into chaos.

His aerial combat with Blood Puppet had truly opened Lin Qingliu’s eyes to the top-tier combat power of Hope City.

Excluding his own open actions, and the five members of the first team—no, four, since one wasn’t actively involved—just the strength of the Captain alone showed that the Second Team, led by Blood Puppet, represented the pinnacle of what superpowered individuals in Hope City could achieve.

A single team like that might be manageable, but facing three or five such teams would likely result in significant losses.

Thus, directly revealing his identity would undoubtedly lead to chaos. While Lin Qingliu could exert some control, many restless individuals would surely seize the opportunity to act, putting innocent lives at risk.

Moreover, the other individuals who had some operational flexibility had also become unreasonable since the second meeting with Infinite Scroll two days ago.

During that second meeting, Lin Qingliu had carefully selected several questions, hoping to extract more information from Infinite Scroll.

Although Infinite Scroll claimed she would assist Lin Qingliu, he didn’t see her as a subordinate; rather, he regarded her as a partner.

As partners, their dealings had to be fair and just.

From this perspective, Lin Qingliu, who had yet to take action, was essentially freeloading off Infinite Scroll’s database.

With a shameless determination, Lin Qingliu confirmed several facts from this exchange:

Firstly, the spaceship Taraxacum-03 had lost part of its hull during the emergency landing, including nearly four thousand sleep pods containing living people.

Those in the sleep pods were mostly elites from the Previous Civilization, each possessing unique skills and capable of making significant contributions on colonial planets.

The loss of these individuals was undoubtedly a devastating blow to the spark of human civilization.

Secondly, Lin Qingliu confirmed the basic timeline of the spaceship’s emergency landing: the sequence was—spaceship collided with an unknown object, followed by the emergency landing, and then the rebellion emerged.

However, the question Lin Qingliu truly wanted answered remained unresolved by Infinite Scroll.

Lin Qingliu’s question was: Where did the unknown object that the spaceship collided with go?
