Chapter 465: Escape

The giant icy bird flew straight into the trap.

Han Feiyu swiftly formed seals with his hands, activating the thirty-six lock spirit formations.

Thirty-six light walls blocked all escape routes for the giant icy bird, gradually closing in.

At that moment, the trapped giant icy bird thrashed violently within the formations, causing them to fluctuate in size.

Han Feiyu tossed a pre-prepared spirit crystal above the formation and then shot a burst of spiritual energy to detonate it.

The explosion released a massive surge of spiritual energy, instantly powering up the thirty-six lock spirit formations. The formations rapidly shrank, rendering the giant icy bird’s struggles futile.

Just as the formations were about to reach their smallest size, Han Feiyu threw a red and white magical orb. The formations seemed to recognize it as their home and swiftly merged into the orb.

"Brother Han Feiyu, a peak Nascent Soul stage ice creature has been sealed just like that!" Iron Tower exclaimed in disbelief.

When Han Feiyu first proposed the plan, Iron Tower had been against it. But eventually, he gave in, thinking that with his strength, escaping with Han Feiyu and his Little Sister wouldn’t be too difficult.

"Brother Feiyu is amazing," Iron Orchid said admiringly.

"It’s all thanks to the formations taught by the sect. The real credit goes to them," Han Feiyu replied modestly with a smile.

He had learned about formations during his early days at the Hidden Spirit Sect, and the sect’s manual contained a wealth of formation knowledge.

"The formations are powerful, and so is Feiyu," Iron Tower said, looking at Han Feiyu with a mix of pride and something else—perhaps like a mother-in-law admiring her son-in-law or the bond between brothers. It was a look Han Feiyu found hard to interpret.

Han Feiyu casually summoned the red and white magical orb into his hand.

"Let’s head back to Fairy City in Tianyuan. We’ve been through a lot lately."

"Once we’re back, we should take a good rest," Han Feiyu suggested.

After turning in these tasks, he would have a month to figure out how to leave the extreme north.

Staying in such a dangerous place wasn’t his style. He longed to return to the sect and continue his cultivation in peace.

Being away from the sect had made him realize just how valuable the lessons he’d learned there were.

At the Golden Core Stage, he was still laying the foundation for his cultivation, according to the sect’s teachings. He wanted to return soon to avoid any missteps in his progress.

Back in Fairy City in Tianyuan, after submitting their tasks at the task hall, the three of them headed to a hotel for a hearty meal before resting.

"Without a Great Ascension Master in Fairy City in Tianyuan, I wonder how long we can hold out against the ice creatures," Iron Tower said, gazing at the bustling cultivators below with concern.

"Brother Iron, worrying won’t help. If Fairy City in Tianyuan falls, we’ll have no choice but to flee into the icy wilderness," Han Feiyu said between bites, having already mapped out a retreat plan.

"Don’t worry, Brother Feiyu can get us out safely," Iron Orchid reassured.

"Exactly, I’ve got a plan ready. Just follow my lead when the time comes," Han Feiyu said, pouring a glass of blazing sun wine for Iron Tower.

"You’re right. My brother here has seen the world; it’s best to trust his judgment," Iron Tower said, downing the glass in one go. A wave of fire spiritual energy surged through his body, warming him up.

"This blazing sun wine is strong," Iron Tower remarked, surprised.

"Of course it is. Brother Feiyu only gets the best—one jar costs a top-grade spirit stone," Iron Orchid said with a grin.

"Brother Iron Tower, we haven’t done much to deserve such generosity," Iron Tower said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Don’t mention it, Brother Iron Tower. This jar of wine is nothing," Han Feiyu replied with a smile.

The reason I bought this wine isn’t because it’s good; it’s just that it’s the most expensive one available here.

At night, Han Feiyu sat in his room, reviewing materials about the teleportation formations in the sect manual.

"Whoever edited this sect manual deserves my heartfelt thanks when I get back."

"And this jade slip, it can hold so much information," Han Feiyu marveled once again.

At that moment, a knock echoed from outside.

"Brother Feiyu, are you asleep?"

"I brought you some sweet soup to help with your hangover."

Iron Orchid’s voice made Han Feiyu feel a bit helpless.

He understood her feelings toward him, but unfortunately, he was currently focused solely on his cultivation and wasn’t ready for romantic matters.

According to the common saying within the sect, the woman who would make his heart flutter had not yet appeared.

The door opened automatically, and Iron Orchid entered, holding a bowl of sweet soup she had made herself.

"I noticed you and Brother had quite a bit to drink today, so I made this sweet soup for you," Iron Orchid said softly.

"Thank you, Little Orchid," Han Feiyu smiled.

"You’re too polite, Brother Feiyu. With my low cultivation, this is all I can do for you," Iron Orchid replied, her eyes reflecting a touch of sadness, regretting that she hadn’t cultivated more seriously with her brother.

At that moment, Han Feiyu suddenly recalled the scene when he saved them, and curiously asked, "When I rescued you, Brother Iron Tower had already gotten married."

"You left us spirit stones enough for three people to teleport, so…"

When he had saved Iron Tower and his sister, he noticed that Iron Tower seemed off, wearing an expression of sadness and despair, as if he wanted to die alongside the ice creatures.

"At that time, my brother and I were hunting on the icefield, and he wanted to check the teleportation formation left by Brother Feiyu."

"That’s when the ice race awoke and started killing anyone in sight. My brother wanted to take my sister and me to teleport away from this area."

"When we fought our way back home, we found that Warm Jade Fairy City had been slaughtered, so my brother had to escape with my sister’s corpse and me." Iron Orchid spoke sadly.

Upon hearing this, Han Feiyu could only sigh. He thought about what had happened in Celestial Sword Fairy City; if it weren’t for his master, he might already be buried under three feet of grass.

"You two should come back to the sect with me; it’s much safer there," Han Feiyu suggested, wanting to take this pair of siblings to a secure place as a way to repay his life-saving grace.

"Okay," Iron Orchid replied, lowering her head.

Just then, the entire Fairy City in Tianyuan trembled, a powerful wave of energy surged forth, freezing everyone to the core, as if trapped in an icy cage.

"Without a human race elder to guard, you dare to build a city here? Today, all the humans here will become sacrifices for my ice race."

A voice, aged like ancient ice, echoed, causing all cultivators in the fairy city to change their expressions dramatically.

"Let’s retreat with Brother," Han Feiyu said calmly. As the one who maintained composure, he had already prepared fallback plans for dangerous situations.

The three quickly regrouped in the courtyard, and with a wave of his hand, Han Feiyu opened a door in the center of the courtyard that led to the basement.
