Chapter 307: The Crimson Child Kneels Begging Mu Lin Not to Die

“Now, I’m unbeatable… Bang!”

Crimson Child’s Lair laughed wildly while crushing Mu Lin’s skull.

But before his laughter faded, his own head abruptly burst with a muffled *pop*.

“???”

“What… backlash? That human mongrel has a counterattack skill!”

Crimson Child’s Lair, being experienced, instantly recognized the cause.

Still unaware of the gravity, he sneered coldly despite his shattered head: “Cheap tricks won’t work on me. As the Crimson Ruler’s mighty offspring, losing one head means nothing. But you—you’re dead! Dead! Why… why do you still breathe?!”

The arrogant Crimson Child had been boasting of his superiority, mocking Mu Lin’s frailty. Yet his taunts died mid-sentence when he saw Mu Lin’s crushed skull reforming like rewinding time, leaving no trace of injury.

This sight cracked Crimson Child’s composure.

But he refused to admit defeat.

“Healing? Let’s see how many times you can do that!”

“ROAR!”

The grotesque beast claw sprouting from Mu Lin’s mutated body swiped at his head again.

*Crunch!*

Mu Lin didn’t resist. His skull shattered once more—and instantly, Crimson Child’s Lair’s head exploded too through the substitution ability’s bond.

*Bang!*

*Pop!*

The twin detonations overlapped like firecrackers.

Neither died. The Transcendent Crimson Child transcended mortality, while Mu Lin’s Grandmaster-level Substitute Paper Figures and reset ability made head trauma trivial.

As Mu Lin’s head burst, a paper figure in Ping An Ancient County’s City God Realm burned to ash, restoring his body. Crimson Child’s Lair’s head meanwhile squirmed and regrew.

“You can’t keep this up forever!”

Convinced such a potent substitution ability must have limits, Crimson Child’s Lair spent the next three minutes slamming the beast claw onto Mu Lin’s skull.

*Bang! Pop! Crash!*

Through relentless strikes and Mu Lin’s passive acceptance, his head ruptured over a dozen times in rapid succession.

On the opposite side, Crimson Child’s Lair’s head exploded over a dozen times.

Though he partially restored his heads using crimson powers, only two remained intact after the repeated explosions.

This filled him with dread.

He feared collapsing first if this battle of attrition continued.

This hesitation made Mu Lin hold back his beast claw strike after reviving, his face twisting with indecision.

Finally he growled through clenched teeth: "No need to kill gutter trash like you. You’ll serve as my slave…"

He tried masking cowardice with bluster, but Mu Lin showed no mercy.

"Too scared to fight? Then I’ll move first."

Mu Lin drew a shuddering breath.

The Black Fog behind him streamed into his body through all seven facial orifices like homing birds.

The black river water’s corrosive properties dissolved Mu Lin’s eyes, nostrils, mouth, tongue and ears instantly.

The fog then rampaged through his body.

Muscles, bones, blood, heart, liver, spleen – everything melted under the black river water’s assault.

Agony worse than the Sentence of a Thousand Cuts overwhelmed even Mu Lin’s iron will, forcing a pained hiss through ruined lips.

As Mu Lin suffered, Crimson Child’s Lair fared no better.

Their fates interlinked, every injury Mu Lin sustained reflected onto Lair through karmic bonds.

Now Lair’s own face melted as black river water ate through his bones, blood and organs.

"STOP! Damn you, STOP!"

Blind panic drove Lair to hurl a crimson bone spear.

The projectile pierced Mu Lin’s heart unimpeded, pinning his body against a distant wall with brutal strength.

Yet this vicious strike brought Lair no triumph – only deepening terror.

"No, I didn’t mean to! I didn’t want to kill you… *squelch*…"

Though he regretted it, the inevitable still happened.

The instant Mu Lin’s chest was pierced and his heart shattered, a gaping hole burst open on Crimson Child’s Lair’s torso with a sickening *crunch*. Through the wound, everyone saw his opposing heart also ruptured.

Pinned against the stone wall, Mu Lin couldn’t even be bothered to struggle. He let the bone spear impale him and allowed the black river water to eat away at his body.

*Drip. Drip. Drip.*

As Mu Lin remained motionless, the corrosive liquid dissolved his flesh, bones, and organs – all turning into more black river water that dripped endlessly from his dangling form. Crimson Child’s Lair screamed as identical wounds manifested across his own melting body, his mountainous frame shrinking with every drop that fell.

"Bastard! Stop this madness!" The once-arrogant entity now knelt in the City of Heart’s Prison, clawing at his disintegrating chest. "You’ll die too! Please, let’s talk! Name your price! *cough* Anything!"

Outside the arena, Prince Liang’s lips twitched as muffled laughter rippled through the clan elders. A wizened man wheezed, "Five centuries I’ve lived! Seen warriors beg for mercy, beg for death… but never beg their enemy to stay alive!"

"His substitution ability transfers six-tenths of the damage," another elder muttered, eyeing Mu Lin’s latest regenerating body. "Against Condensing Essence stage youths, it’s lethal. But High Mastery of Transformation practitioners…"

Inside the battleground, Mu Lin frowned as his 28th death only made Crimson Child’s Lair stagger. Black river water now dripped from both combatants. "Three hundred more deaths should do it," he calculated coldly, ignoring the foreboding chill suddenly crawling up his spine.
