Chapter 400: Four Symbols Slaughter Formation

“Did you truly believe victory was yours?”

Ye Yun gazed coldly at Duan Guangchen, his eyes devoid of murderous intent or anger, still as an ancient well.

Duan Guangchen smirked. “And why shouldn’t I?”

Ye Yun chuckled, his eyes scanning the four pitch-black Hidden Dragon Guards. “Hiding your cultivation at the pinnacle of the Foundation Establishment stage for years must’ve been exhausting. The throne must weigh heavily—always fearing assassins, even now.”

Duan Guangchen didn’t mind the delay. His recent injuries healed faster the longer Ye Yun stalled. The four Hidden Dragon Guards had already trapped their target. In half an hour, Duan Guangchen’s wounds would fully mend. United, the five could challenge even an early Golden Core stage expert—let alone Ye Yun.

“If you’ve any last wishes, I might grant them,” Duan Guangchen offered mockingly.

Ye Yun shrugged. “I meant to ask _you_ that. Pity you spoke first.”

Murderous intent flickered in Duan Guangchen’s eyes as he waved his hand.

The audacity! Surrounded by four peak Foundation Establishment experts, Ye Yun still dared provoke him. These Hidden Dragon Guards had honed their synergy over decades, amplifying their combined strength tenfold. Against such might, even Golden Core cultivators hesitated. Arrogance would be Ye Yun’s death.

At Duan Guangchen’s signal, the obsidian-clad guards erupted with dark light. Threads of black energy wove overhead, forming a poisonous net—a high-grade mysterious weapon split among them. The stench of venom filled the air as the web descended, its toxins capable of paralyzing soul and body alike.

Ye Yun glanced upward and sighed. A wisp of blue-purple flame sparked on his fingertip, unwavering despite the howling winds.

“Heavenly Spirit Fire—reduce all to ashes.”

He flicked his wrist. The flame exploded into countless streaks, intercepting the net.

_Sizzle!_

The black strands bleached white as poison vaporized. Before the flames faded, Ye Yun gestured again. Translucent waves surged, catching the glowing net. Steam hissed where water met scorched threads, carrying the stench of burnt toxins skyward.

Ye Yun traced symbols in the air. Within ten zhang, space itself thickened, turning glassy and brittle. A crystalline snap echoed as cracks spiderwebbed through the frozen void, ensnaring the net.

The Purple Shadow Sword materialized. Ye Yun’s aura sharpened—a blade unsheathed, piercing heavenward. Lightning, fire, and ice swirled above before converging on the sword’s edge.

“Born as a Sword!”

He thrust upward. The fractured void shattered, merging seamlessly with untouched space. The net disintegrated into silken scraps drifting earthward.

Duan Guangchen stared, disbelief choking him. That high-grade mysterious weapon could’ve slain even him! Yet Ye Yun had shattered it like rotten cloth.

The Hidden Dragon Guards showed only fleeting surprise—not at their broken weapon, but its loss. Emotions had been sealed during their training. Life, death, victory—all mattered only as their master commanded.

“Activate the Four Symbols! Cycle the Five Elements! Kill him!” Duan Guangchen bellowed, a dragon-headed blade gleaming in his grip.

The guards shifted positions, black energy tethering them into a lethal formation.

Ye Yun watched coldly. Having grasped five laws, he stood unrivaled below the Golden Core stage. Four opponents? Forty? It mattered not.

“Four Symbols Slaughter Formation!” Duan Guangchen swung his blade, its light arcing toward Ye Yun as the guards’ darkness surged anew.
