Chapter 817
byChapter 817: Smooth Escape
However, when Ye Yun realized the black mountain beast sought to break through to the demon god realm, he couldn’t help but chuckle. Though he’d once temporarily reached the Heavenly Immortal realm through sheer luck, true ascension required more than endless top-tier Immortal Spirit Stones—it demanded comprehension of the World’s Rules. Now, such concerns no longer troubled him.
“But to kill it, I need the right moment.” As the black mountain beast’s aura swelled, Ye Yun wished to halt its growth but lacked a clear plan. Fleeing was easy, yet letting it rampage into the human realm from the Celestial-Demon battlefield would spell disaster.
Noticing the beast’s temporary indifference, Ye Yun examined the Black Hammer in his Storage Treasure. A faint glow enveloped it, soon obscured by black radiance. The Immortal spirit energy within his treasure attempted to purify the hammer but shattered upon contact.
This time, Ye Yun lifted the Black Hammer effortlessly. A strange sensation emanated from it as black crystalline light flickered across its head. With a thought, the hammer crumbled, revealing a magic source crystal. Joy flashed in Ye Yun’s eyes.
“Sought tirelessly, gained through toil—this is enough.” With the crystal secured, his mission here was complete. Only the beast remained.
“If I break the seal… will I survive?” Hesitating, he watched the Heart of Immortals and Demons swirl with black and white energy, ready to restore his sealed mental energy and Immortal spirit power. Yet he held back. His body couldn’t endure it. Earlier, unlocking less than a tenth of the seal while comprehending spatial laws had nearly shattered his sea of consciousness. Full release might reduce him to bloodied pulp before he could strike.
But allowing the beast to grow unchecked risked catastrophe. Resolved, Ye Yun summoned a four-colored Immortal Sword in his left hand. The Purple Shadow Divine Sword in his right blazed not with teal light but a transcendent force—crystalline yet icy, radiating immense pressure.
“How much of the Ancestor’s two extremes of the Sword Path can I wield now?” Leaping forward, his aura erupted. The beast noticed the threat—a tiny shadow wielding that strange sword.
“Roar!” Abandoning its feast on demonic energy, the beast roared, wings spreading to blot the sky. Ye Yun’s swords struck its body, but as claws swiped, white light flashed. Space fractured, and Ye Yun reappeared at its tail, slicing a long wound with a dazzling flourish.
When the beast whipped its tail, Ye Yun materialized atop its head. The Purple Shadow Divine Sword drove down with a Thunderous Strike—only to vanish as black energy exploded where he’d stood. Reappearing on its back, he barely steadied himself before attacking anew.
Yet the beast’s aura only intensified. Undeterred, Ye Yun pressed on, swords dancing. His true qi surged, conjuring hundreds of afterimages around the beast. A few innate One Sword energies lashed out, scarring its hide.
The beast’s roars shook heaven, but its fury couldn’t touch Ye Yun, who darted like a phantom. Wounds accumulated, yet the beast’s resistance ceased. Seizing the chance, Ye Yun attacked relentlessly—until exhaustion clouded his mind.
“So this is your plan?” Though external Immortal spirit energy replenished his power, his body neared collapse. Stopping now would invite a fatal counterattack. Sighing, he acknowledged his oversight—the toll of wielding spatial laws and the Divine Sword.
“Ancestor, it’s your turn.” Ye Yun forced a smile. Pushing further would doom him.
The Ancestor chuckled. “Leave it to me. A moment’s all I need.”
Terrifying mental intent flooded the air. The beast’s roars dulled; its crimson eyes glazed with fragmented memories. Ye Yun glimpsed them but dismissed the scenes—unremarkable to his eyes.
“Why discard this inheritance memory?” the Ancestor chided. “Its physical cultivation methods could’ve aided you.”
“The rage remains unquelled, but no matter.” Ye Yun studied the subdued beast. Though the Ancestor’s Soul Power crushed its will, hatred still burned in its gaze—directed wholly at Ye Yun.
He considered killing it but held back. “Tame it for me. It may prove useful later.”
“Possible, but beware its resentment,” the Ancestor warned.
As the beast shrank to fist-size beneath Barrier seals, Ye Yun mused, “Looks harmless now.”
“No creature is born evil. Heritage and memory shape them,” the Ancestor replied.
“Time to go.” Ye Yun crushed the boundary-breaking symbol. The battlefield warped, spatial laws churning around him. Agony tore through his flesh—then he stood within the Immortal Dao Sect, the ordeal ended.
