Volume 1 Chapter 374
byChapter 374: Bomb Turtle!
Inside the torture tower, the Golden Peacock Kingdom’s special interrogation room.
Lolth’s conversation with the Lady of Light ended after Lolth finished the Holy Meal.
As Lolth left the Interrogation Room for the Church of Light, Kanor and Dorothy began their discussion.
"Sister Dorothy, what do you think?"
Kanor rubbed her chin, thinking as she asked.
Dorothy hesitated for a moment and cautiously said, "I don’t know, it seems like… Teacher Lolth successfully built a relationship with the Lady of Light through cooking?"
"That’s right, food and meals can break down barriers. Master Lolth is the greatest chef in history, so she can easily do that."
As Kanor said this, she shook her head and added, "But, this is not the time to talk about that. The important thing is that we need to find out how far the Lady of Light’s ‘fondness’ for Master Lolth has gone."
"And," Kanor paused at this point, "Janine Irene’s reaction to this."
"So what should we do? Should we try to find another chance to talk to both of them?" Dorothy asked cautiously.
Kanor shook her head.
"No, that would be too suspicious… But even though we only understood a little, we can’t confirm through expressions and body language, but…"
Kanor looked at the communicator in her hand.
"Turtle, you must have checked, right?"
Kanor said confidently.
She knew that mysterious Turtle too well.
Its personality is too troublesome, it talks too much and can’t resist joining in on the fun.
Just now, Master Lolth was eating with the Lady of Light… there’s no way this guy could resist watching.
Sure enough, a deliberately lowered voice from Turtle came through the communicator.
"Oh, of course, I saw it! Little ancestor, you didn’t see it. Lord Lolth and Lady of Light were flirting with each other, making eyes, sharing sweet words, and there was so much drama."
Hearing this, Dorothy gently covered her mouth, showing a shocked and sad expression.
"Really… is it true?"
Kanor calmly tugged at Dorothy’s sleeve, shook her head, and said.
"Don’t worry, not a single word is true."
Then she picked up the communicator and said, "You can keep talking nonsense; you have that right—but you should know, I also have the right to blow you up at any time… This way, you would be attacking Lady of Light and Paladin Janine Irene, taking you both away. It would be like killing three birds with one stone. How wonderful!"
Kanor’s voice was calm and steady, but the turtle clearly looked very frightened.
"What on earth… when did you place a bomb?"
"If it were just a communicator, the best I could do is something the size of a button."
Kanor glanced at the communicator in her hand, which was about the size of half a palm, and let out a cold laugh.
"Oh dear, this is quite unnecessary," the turtle’s voice immediately became much more polite, "I’m just trying to lighten the mood… Anyway, let’s get back to the main topic. Based on my observations of the two people’s reactions, there shouldn’t be a big problem."
"Not a big problem?"
Kanor repeated.
"Well, although the Lady of Light seems to be closer to Lord Lolth, it still gives off that feeling of ‘finding a rare soulmate,’ like she’s being confirmed by a kindred spirit… Hmm, on Lord Lolth’s side, it’s just pure encouragement. You can tell that easily."
The turtle paused here.
"However, Janine Irene, that Paladin’s reaction is indeed worth paying attention to."
"She seems a bit… unwilling?"
"It’s like she’s worried that Lolth will steer her Holiness off course, but… I think she’s overthinking it!"
Kanor heard this and nodded slightly.
"Am I thinking too much…?"
Although she agreed with Turtle’s words, Kanor still felt a bit uneasy.
Regardless of whether Janine Irene’s thoughts were overly worried or whether the relationship between Lady of Light and Lolth was simply "a senior encouraging a junior" or if some "feelings were blossoming," there was no doubt that their relationship had indeed improved.
Both Janine Irene and Turtle noticed this, and Lolth, being the person involved, also sensed it.
After leaving the Interrogation Room for the Church of Light, Lolth was naturally in a great mood.
"That’s wonderful! Although misunderstandings still exist, this is by far the best start!"
In her eyes, the Lady of Light was now very friendly towards her, and subtly, she didn’t seem to linger like Tina and Isabella.
As long as this continues, help from the Church of Light would likely arrive soon, and she could comfortably send the two away.
Just before leaving, secretly slipping in the Rod of Eden was simply a perfect plan!
So, when Lolth finished cleaning the dishes and left the Interrogation Room for the Church of Light, she suddenly realized something.
"Hey… it seems like the problem is solved?"
Regarding the Lady of Light, it seems like there is really nothing more for her to do!
And after sending off the Marshal Ryman and the Grand Priestess of the elves, these two forces should not bother her for a while.
The Golden Peacock, Seychelles, and South Sotua should also have no interest in her.
The Lord of the Demon King just returned to the Demon King Castle, so she will probably stay quiet for a while.
The situation on the continent is also becoming more stable.
After going through all the recent forces that had caused her "trouble" in her mind, Lolth was pleasantly surprised to discover…
It seems that besides waiting for The Church of Light to rescue the Lady of Light and continuing to handle the development of Hillenbrand Town, there is not much left to do!
The City Hall of Hillenbrand Town is also running smoothly under the leadership of Tina, Isabella, and Maider.
Even the "factory area" is almost finished.
Considering that the mercenaries from South Sotua are making good progress with the renovations, and more and more civilians from other places are coming to Hillenbrand Town, the shortage of workers and extraordinary power is gradually being filled.
"Doesn’t this mean… I can relax!"
I can go fishing, cook a little, teach my apprentice, and chat and stroll around with Tina and Isabella…
The retirement life I have long dreamed of is finally coming true!
Thinking of this, Lolth couldn’t help but want to praise the God of Light!
The blessings of the God of Light are so reassuring, it truly deserves to be the number one church on the continent, they are really impressive.
Lolth, feeling very happy, hummed a little tune as she put the dishes into the dishwasher and walked into her office.
She planned to make her own slacking-off plan.
But as soon as she opened the door, Lolth saw an unexpected guest.
"My Lord, you have finally returned!"
Lolth was also very surprised that the other person was here.
"Mayor Harper… what happened?"
