Chapter 386: A Strong Teammate!

Under Hobbit’s guidance, they walked down the spiral stairs, and soon, Lolth and Hood arrived in a "basement."

However, even though it was called a basement, it was still quite "comfortable," with thick stone walls and a door, lit only by candles.

The space was relatively spacious, comparable to the living room of a nobleman.

On the walls, magical circles were carved to keep the air flowing, and around a wooden long table, there were more than ten soft chairs. A plate on the table held many snacks, including dried fruits from the United Kingdom of South Sotua.

It looks like a meeting room.

Besides Hood and the Hobbit, there were three other people in the underground meeting room.

Sitting at the end of the long table was a person wearing an extravagant silver half-mask, dressed in the trendiest lemon-yellow cardigan and brown riding pants from the United Kingdom of South Sotua. Their long brown hair flowed down to their shoulders, and the lower half of their face appeared soft and round, looking like a notable noble from South Sotua, though it was unclear if they were male or female.

Behind the noble stood a short figure dressed in a black cloak, completely shrouded in shadows and silent, likely a Sneaker.

On the other side of him was a girl with slightly dark hair styled in a princess cut. She was holding a long weapon wrapped in white cloth, which was about two-thirds her height, and it was hard to tell what it really was—maybe a spear or a club.

When Lolth arrived, the noble was the first to speak.

"Oh… Hood, I can’t believe you really found the right person from over there."

His voice was a bit hoarse and sounded like that of an adult male.

Hood smiled slightly when he heard this.

"It’s all luck… because this warrior Miss Kululu is so strong that she broke the testing target. That half-orc butler’s mind is messed up; he doesn’t understand how to be flexible and insists that her magic level is not good enough, declaring her unqualified!"

As Hood said this, everyone else looked at him, including Lolth, who showed a look of disbelief.

I’m afraid only Hood would believe that the half-orc butler really didn’t know how to be flexible and would disqualify Lolth.

However, no one pointed this out, and they let Hood bask in his own joy.

"I have brought in another powerful ally, Master Krado… can the reward be increased a little?"

"That’s easy to discuss," said the nobleman called "Master Krado," nodding. He continued, "So, before our team departs, we have welcomed our sixth member… this should be the last one, so everyone, please take a seat."

As Krado said this, the short man in the black robe and the girl carrying an unknown object sat down behind him, and Hobbit and Hood took their seats one by one.

Lolth also sat at the end of the table, quietly reached for a piece of dried fruit, and put it in her mouth.

"It’s not very authentic…"

While eating, Lolth savored the faint sour taste of the dried fruit and commented that there was still a gap between this method and the excellent craftsmanship of South Sotua’s dried fruits.

This South Sotua noble did not seem to know how to enjoy himself… or perhaps he just did not look as impressive as he seemed, so the dried fruit was not top-notch.

However, the noble Krado did not know the thoughts in Lolth’s heart.

After everyone was seated, he gently spoke, "Hello, esteemed Superoperators… I am your ’employer’ and the temporary ‘leader’ of this team. You can just call me Krado."

"You are all sitting here, I believe, for the ‘Wild Boar Mountain’… After all, you are all well-informed mercenaries, so you should know how special ‘Wild Boar Mountain’ is right now—I’ll be direct, it does indeed have a stable ‘half-plane channel’ that might last for at least half a month."

The mercenaries here did indeed know this little rumor, so receiving a nearly official confirmation did not overly excite them.

Only Hood clenched his fists, his face turning red, seemingly trying to hold back his cheer.

The other few merely nodded slightly, acknowledging Krado’s attitude.

This noble’s straightforward and direct manner in providing accurate information was well-received by everyone.

Krado then continued speaking.

"Moreover, according to my information, this half-plane channel is indeed an ancient civilization site, what you often call a ‘dungeon’, and its scale is comparable to the ruins of the super civilization left behind by Mercury… Most importantly…"

Krado paused for a moment and continued speaking.

"It has never been entered by anyone!"

"In other words, it is very rich in resources!"

"So I admitted it openly, even as a noble, I am very tempted," Krado said, lightly coughing twice, "Honestly, as a noble, you might naturally dislike me a bit… But I must say, there are ranks among nobles."

"I want to seize the opportunity of this half-plane and dungeon to escape my own troubles, but unfortunately, the City Master of Silver Citadel is very powerful and seems to be plotting something, so I have no right to claim a share."

As he said this, he leaned forward slightly.

"But that is a place I, as a ‘noble’, cannot enter… However, I realized that as a ‘mercenary’ and ‘Superoperator’, I still have the chance to enter."

"So, essentially, my interests and yours are the same. Even though I am your employer now, once we take action, I will be just like you, an ordinary mercenary!"

"Therefore, let’s dive in together—after all, the treasures in those ruins would catch the eye of not just nobles, but even a king!"

"For this mission, in addition to paying you each ten gold coins, I will only take one-third of the treasures we find in the ruins, and the rest you can share among yourselves!"

Krado’s words were already very inspiring, and with such a generous reward…

Both the Hobbit and the Hood showed excitement in their eyes.

The small black-robed person’s face was still hidden in shadow, but the girl holding the weapon remained unusually calm.

Lolth also displayed a mix of innocence and excitement, while secretly observing the others.

"Hmm… there are some skilled people here. Just look at their hairstyle and features… that black-haired girl must be from the Seven Kingdoms, right? With such a good nature, she’s likely a student from a noble family!"

If I have someone like that to rely on, things will probably be much easier for me!
