Volume 1 Chapter 502
byChapter 502: Outside the Divine Kingdom, What About the Gods?
Lolth typically adheres to the principle of "an eye for an eye" unless the situation is particularly dire and she is not provoked.
If others do not actively provoke or threaten Lolth, she generally refrains from serious engagement.
Even when she does engage, Lolth is likely to gauge the opponent’s strength and deploy just enough power to neutralize the threat.
This time, the cultist on the ground was of epic level.
Thus, Lolth employed a spell of legend level.
The legend level space spell folded space into something akin to an immovable, indestructible boulder, pressing down upon the cultist.
Yet, despite this, he managed to flash a rather eerie smile.
He fixed his gaze on Lolth, his eyes betraying a hint of the bizarre.
"You… you too are within the Lord’s ‘promise’…"
"It’s almost time…"
With the last of his strength, he squeezed out these words before closing his eyes.
"What do you mean by ‘almost’?"
Lolth inquired, slightly puzzled.
"This place will soon no longer belong to the Ailuo race."
Another voice chimed in from the ground; this time, it was a Demon Fanatic who spoke.
One by one, the Demon Fanatics rose, including the half-orc who had been choked unconscious by Luge. Whether they had lost consciousness or a limb, as long as they drew breath, they stood up against all odds.
"The Dimensional Barrier is weakening, and Master Murphy’s blessing is about to arrive here!"
All the Demon Fanatics declared in unison.
"Submit, or die!"
Their eerie voices overlapped, sending a wave of nausea through Lolth.
Then, as if their souls had been siphoned away, the Demon Fanatics collapsed silently.
Now, Yi and Ann had no choice but to postpone their sisterly reunion.
Everyone sensed that something monumental was about to occur.
After the "warning" from the Demon Fanatics, Lolth immediately attuned her senses and indeed perceived…
The barriers between the planes were diminishing.
The aura of an alternate plane was intensifying!
Considering the words of both the cultist and the Demon Fanatics, Lolth quickly surmised.
"Trouble… their master is truly on his way!"
She recalled the warning her elder sister had imparted to her through their soul connection.
Soon, this place… would be bustling with activity.
"It really is going to be quite the spectacle…"
Lolth sighed as she pondered this.
"The time for idle play is over."
A surge of magical energy coursed through her.
Pure magic filled her body and soul, combating the "will" of this half-plane that had been embedded within her.
Soon, the magic representing the "will" of the half-plane was entirely eradicated, and Lolth’s strength returned to its full, unhindered state.
Though this act was both draining and costly for Lolth, as she had said…
This was no longer a time for leisure.
Beings of divine stature were about to descend upon this half-plane.
Though their intentions were unclear, this was a perilous situation Lolth had to avoid.
The weakening of the Dimensional Barrier was ominous, signaling the imminent arrival of evil gods and demons from hell…
Yet, for Lolth, it also meant that escaping from here had become significantly easier.
In fact, she could even teleport everyone present away right now.
Though they were mere strangers, Lolth couldn’t bear to see them perish needlessly.
Just as Lolth was about to cast spatial magic to flee…
In a space passage that had nearly stabilized and was fading away, two "gaps" suddenly appeared.
They were unlike the previous passages.
Instead, they appeared almost simultaneously, as if the space had been torn open to create these breaches.
One gap widened menacingly, revealing a blood-red dimension filled with a sense of distortion. Soft, decaying sounds and a foul stench emanated from it, as if countless eyes were watching.
The other gap expanded to a certain point and then ceased to grow, but black flames began to burn at its edges, and jagged crystals started to form, gradually shaping into a large, regular gate floating in the air.
"It’s time to go…"
Lolth’s expression shifted slightly as she realized the invasion had begun.
Now, the Demon God from hell and the evil god from the alternate plane could arrive at any moment!
But just as she was about to cast her spell…
A familiar wave of energy came.
The entire space resonated with the angry voice of a girl.
"Get out!"
The passage between hell and the evil Divine Kingdom seemed to blur and tremble.
A small figure appeared before the space passage.
Lolth halted her magical incantation.
"Ah—it’s her."
She suddenly realized something.
The person she had met by chance this time was not the only one.
The "Artificial Soul" here is the girl known as "Five Colors."
And she…
Cannot be taken away.
It’s clear that she is bound to this half-plane; Lolth cannot remove her from here.
It seems she has no intention of leaving either.
It makes sense; this place likely feels like home to her.
So, what Five Colors is doing now is attempting to close the two formed spatial portals using the power of the entire half-plane.
But unfortunately…
Perhaps Five Colors, as the core of the half-plane, possesses powers akin to a deity within this realm.
But today, her opponent is truly formidable…
A deity.
After just a moment of hesitation, the gate to the underworld erupted with even fiercer flames!
The pitch-black flames surged violently, once again overpowering the planar forces summoned by Five Colors.
Originating from a complete alternate plane, a truly deity-level force instantly caused the black flames to dominate most of the sky.
The only force that could rival it was the crack on the other side, teeming with countless watchers.
Under the simultaneous counterattack of two divine beings, Five Colors in the sky dimmed significantly.
Watching this scene, on the ground, apart from the nearly dead cultist who laughed maniacally, the others wore uneasy expressions.
Soon, except for Lolth, Yi, Julie, Qiong, and Lalea felt the suppression of their powers lifted.
"Damn… it’s the evil god and the demon,"
Yi muttered softly, reaching out to untie the white cloth from her sword.
The white cloth unwound from her hand, revealing a peculiar long sword that seemed to flow like water.
This was the first time everyone present, except for Ann, saw the full form of the long sword.
"Sister…"
Ann’s face showed concern.
Undoubtedly, Yi was the only one among those present, aside from Lolth, who still harbored the will to fight.
"I will protect all of you, so don’t worry,"
Yi said, glancing at Ann, and firmly grasped the peculiar flowing long sword in her hand.
Facing a deity-level opponent… even if it’s just a projection here…
The Holy Domain is insufficient.
At least, one must be a demi-god.
Although Yi has been suppressing her strength to find Ann and to help her break the curse…
At this moment, Ann is right behind her.
So Yi pondered…
"Perhaps advancing now wouldn’t make much difference?"
She contemplated attempting to leap from Holy Domain Middle Level, past Holy Domain High Level, straight into demi-god status before the impending battle.
Given her accumulated strength, she might just pull it off!
At the very least… it was worth a shot!
Yi swiftly resolved herself.
In such matters, Yi was never one to dally.
Just as the surge of extraordinary energy around her began to escalate…
Lolth cut in.
"It’s unnecessary; becoming a demi-god now won’t aid us."
Lolth gazed upwards at the sky, yet Yi understood the words were meant for her.
"Just stepping into demi-god… if the opponent were merely an ordinary projection, with Five Colors, we might stand a chance…"
"But this is a half-plane."
"Judging from the space passage, the main entity might not descend, but a true ‘demi-god’ could appear."
"So… conserve your strength."
As Lolth spoke, she softly pressed her palms together.
Waves of spatial magic emanated from her surroundings.
It matched the intensity of the waves from the alternate plane channel unfurling in the sky.
Yet, the direction was inverted.
The channel in the sky was leading to this half-plane space.
Meanwhile, the passage Lolth was initiating led back to Yi’s origin.
Sensing the spatial magic, Yi was taken aback.
"What are you planning?"
Kanor glanced at the figure of the girl in the sky, Five Colors, and her expression shifted slightly.
"Master—"
In the next instant, Lolth activated the teleportation.
"Return and warn the demi-gods of your respective factions to be wary of this half-plane ruins!"
"And… Kanor, Dorothy—once you’re back, have Kululu notify the Lord of the Demon King to come retrieve me!"
Alternate plane, an evil god seeking the Demon King—Lolth recalled Xiletor’s caution!
A massive surge of energy erupted suddenly, before anyone could react…
"Swish!"
Lolth transported everyone around her away from the scene.
Except for herself.
Saving Five Colors was her own choice; the others didn’t need to take risks for that.
The whole maze felt a little empty.
A trace of melancholy appeared on Lolth’s face.
"Damn, I am so great."
At the same time, she also felt a bit helpless.
If only the Ailuo race could take the core of the half-plane ruins without using an Artificial Soul!
Even if it was just a simulated soul, Lolth felt she could grit her teeth and leave the other behind.
After all, that cannot be called real life.
But the Artificial Soul… is still a lively being, no matter what.
Not to mention, Five Colors is also very kind to her.
Lolth could not ignore her, no matter what.
Staying behind was the only choice.
She looked up at the sky, and the girl, Five Colors, met Lolth’s gaze.
The girl hesitated for a moment, then gently flew toward her.
She was still using the power of the half-plane to resist the other’s approach with all her might.
But Five Colors knew this was an unstoppable trend.
This also meant that Lolth below should leave soon.
She would face the evil god and the creatures from hell with her.
"Your Honor… why don’t you leave?"
Five Colors flew in front of Lolth and asked softly.
"You see, you even called me Your Honor," Lolth spread her hands, "Although I don’t know what a Your Honor really does, in a time like this, someone who sounds like a leader or a high-ranking official, shouldn’t they stay behind?"
"But you are not a real Your Honor."
Five Colors looked at Lolth, and her tail gently swayed in the air.
Lolth wrapped her tail around Five Colors’ tail, stopping its movement, and showed a confident expression.
"Yes, then you have even less right to tell me what to do."
Lolth said firmly.
"Can you leave here?"
"No."
Five Colors answered honestly.
"Are you planning to work for the evil god or the demon of hell?"
Five Colors shook her head again.
"No, I won’t."
"So, I’m staying to help you. What are you unhappy about?"
Lolth said, spreading her hands.
"But I also don’t wish for you, Your Honor, to come to any harm."
Five Colors thought for a moment and said this.
Lolth, hearing Five Colors’ words, looked over her glasses into the eyes of this Artificial Girl.
"You don’t need to worry about this. You might think that you and those guys believe I stayed here with a spirit of bravery or out of love, ignoring the dangers…"
As Lolth said this, she lightly snapped her fingers.
Three magical cubes appeared and spun.
Then, magical symbols began to form in the space.
"However, that is not the case."
"I dislike fighting when I have no choice, so when I learned there are ‘gods’ in this world, many of whom are not kind, I have been preparing for something like this…"
"Using ‘deities’ or ‘high beings from another world’ as imagined enemies."
"How to face them, survive, find a way to fight back, or even defeat them…"
"These are all ideas I have thought about."
"Last time in the ‘Realm of the End,’ that evil god taught me a lesson – ‘Do not underestimate the deities.’"
"But I did not give up on my past ideas because of that."
"They almost made me suffer forever, but they also made me understand… my thoughts were correct."
"Deities are scary, but not that scary."
"So, from now on, I will do my best to help you, while keeping ‘my own safety’ in mind, and drive these hellish demons and evil gods from another world back home."
"This is not just for you – to be honest, because of my friends ‘Ann and Yi’, and my disciple ‘Dorothy Diana’, who have some ties with them, I will have to encounter them sooner or later!"
"This is your home ground, and it is also my home ground."
"Let me see if the gods beyond the Divine Kingdom can still do anything to me now that I am fully prepared!"
As Lolth said this, countless magical symbols suddenly shone around her.
Countless magic pathways connected to her body, as if becoming an extension of Lolth’s soul and body.
The magic output pathways matched with her magic reserves were completed!
In that moment, Lolth…
Was not any less than a god!
