Chapter 331: The Oath Under Compulsion

"Roar——!"

Deinosuchus, driven by strange anger, rushed at the huge creature in front; but after a few steps, it slowed down.

The anger slowly faded under magic’s calming touch.

A confused light flickered in its eyes.

It seemed to ask, "What on earth am I doing?"

This was resisting the urge to Flip the World Off, but not a full win.

Still, among all the Chaos Demon Gods, such a show was already strong.

By Trilobite’s own study, Flip the World Off worked best on paleo creatures from the same time as the Trilobite family.

This period was very long.

From the Cambrian to the end of the Permian period’s Mass Extinction, it covered almost the whole Paleozoic Era; so, all paleo creatures in the Paleozoic were easy targets for Trilobite’s tricks.

Deinosuchus’s mental fight surprised Trilobite, but he quickly found an excuse.

"Well, this one was a real top predator and the top boss for a while."

"Maybe it had built-in resistance?"

"It made sense for the skill effect to be weaker."

"But that was fine!"

"It didn’t hurt hunting!"

Deinosuchus was strong.

The Deinosuchus here was stronger, beating all known fossil samples, nearly four meters tall!

Trilobite guessed its weight could hit three hundred fifty kilograms!

"Being so big was odd."

"But seeing its wrinkled skin, shrinking muscles, and slow moves…"

"It was clear this was an old Deinosuchus!"

Usually, wild creatures don’t live to old age; most die early from hunt accidents, surprises, or fights with others.

Lucky ones reaching late middle age suffered from low stamina and weak bodies, making them easy to chase off or get hurt in hunts.

This was part of nature’s picky way.

Old animals only made weak baby cells, and likely passed on bad genes; in tough natural pick, they didn’t deserve life.

So, a stray cat living wild to four years was good, but a fixed pet cat in the city often lived to teens or even twenty.

Likewise, zoo beasts had no freedom, but under human care, their lives could double wild ones’.

Vigorous old wild animals were truly rare.

"With a body that big, you must have been very old!"

"Old and not dead is a thief!"

If Trilobite were still human, he would never say such things.

But now, Trilobite was a postosuchus, a beast; besides, Deinosuchus wasn’t his kind.

What respect for elders or love for the young was there when it came to food?

Just eat and be done with it.

"Then I shall carry out the laws of Nature."

"This is also called carrying out the will of Heaven, huh."

"Roar——!"

"Boom——!"

Trilobite roared and stood up on his hind legs, making him appear very tall and mighty!

Deinosuchus had just partially resisted Trilobite’s middle finger, but it still felt dazed in its mind.

It was in a state of confusion after just waking up.

Worse yet, due to the disturbance caused by Flip the World Off on Walifer’s Soul, he couldn’t wake up in a short time.

Now its status was like that of a frozen lizard.

As a predator with no goals beyond eating well, Trilobite enjoyed facing a dazed and weakened opponent.

He was not polite at all!

"Whoa…"

His massive body suddenly lunged downward!

"Boom!"

The massive Divine Body smashed onto Deinosuchus’s back like a mighty hammer.

"Crack——!"

That bright sail on its back didn’t add any defense for Deinosuchus; instead, that spot was weak and vulnerable.

It broke with a loud snap.

"Roar——!"

Deinosuchus let out a soul-shattering scream.

But Trilobite felt no pity at all.

"Roar——!"

He charged forward with his massive head!

"Boom——!"

Deinosuchus’s huge body flipped over, exposing its even more vulnerable neck and belly.

"Thud!"

Postosuchus’s powerful forelimbs slammed down on Deinosuchus’s belly.

The sound of ribs breaking echoed.

"Roar……"

Pain jolted Deinosuchus, and Walifer finally woke up.

But soon he realized it would have been better to stay asleep—if he hadn’t woken up, he could have died in a daze; it might have hurt, but at least he wouldn’t have been tormented by negative emotions.

Now, facing the sharp, cold-gleaming saber teeth, Walifer was almost too weak to scream.

Despair gripped him.

In a flash, he understood so much.

He even found it a bit ridiculous.

How did he mess up so badly with such a great hand!?

But there was no answer; he had no time to think about it.

Because…

"Ah——ugh——!"

The giant jaws bit down hard!

"Pshhh——!"

The saber teeth pierced his throat.

The throat-cut kill was done!

"Uh…guh…guh…"

Deinosuchus rolled onto his belly, twisting his body as death neared, his short limbs thrashing and kicking.

"Not dead yet, huh."

"I am a merciful hunter."

"This ends your pain."

Trilobite fiercely wrenched with his saber teeth embedded in Deinosuchus’s neck…

"Crack——!"

The sound of breaking bone echoed.

Deinosuchus’s limbs kicked a few more times and finally went still.

"Huff…"

Trilobite pulled out his saber teeth and let out a long breath.

"It’s finally over."

"Uh, that seemed easy, huh? Didn’t take much work…"

"Mm…"

Trilobite pondered, summing up the experience.

"My mushroom spawn helped a lot; this old guy probably wanted food in the mushroom forest but stepped on ‘shaggy mane ancient bacteria’ by accident, got spooked, stomped around wildly, and caused a chain explosion."

"Plus, he was old and weak already, so I got lucky."

"From now on, let’s have more of these leavings, okay?"

"Ah, right, and also…"

"Hiss—!"

Trilobite fiercely tore a large chunk of front leg meat from the dead Deinosuchus and tossed it beside the trembling Yuan Crocodile.

"Take it!"

"I said there’d be plenty of benefits, and here they are!"

He watched the Yuan Crocodile devour the front leg meat as if starved for days, then nodded in satisfaction.

"Bones shouldn’t be wasted either."

"Used to fertilize the soil, helps mushrooms grow better."

Saying this, Trilobite dug a pit amid the flattened mushroom clusters and buried the leg bones.

"Back to eating…"

"Huh!?"

He noticed the System’s spawn interface showing new changes!

—-

The slaughter of Deinosuchus lasted under five minutes.

A near-instant kill.

If Trilobite had any thought, it was—"The saber teeth instant kill style rocks!"

One sword strike brought swift, merciful death.

Better for both hunter and prey.

Far superior to modern felines choking prey slowly or canines dismembering targets mid-chase.

All in all, he found this hunt simple.

But Valaharl and Loseta disagreed.

They’d witnessed Walifer’s power firsthand.

Neither believed Walifer had lost his ability to resist when facing the Giant God.

"Back then, Walifer wasn’t exhausted—He still possessed the capability to cast multiple forbidden spells!"

"Yet all magic proved useless before the Giant God."

Walifer sacrificed his Divine Body’s capabilities for magic precisely because he ranked among the most adept Chaos Demon Gods in sorcery; stationing himself as a forbidden-spell turret usually deterred all deities.

But these advantages meant nothing before the Giant God.

Approach. Ambush. Close quarters. One-bite finish!

"Whew…"

Valaharl drew a sharp breath.

"How profound."

"He realized the Chaos Demon God had focused all his energy on us, smugly pleased with himself."

"Then suddenly appeared, roaring to create psychological whiplash!"

"Timing, psychology, opportunity, terrain—every factor required consideration."

"This was the maneuver of a tactical master versed in military strategy!"

"Hmm…"

Watching the Giant God voraciously devour Walifer’s corpse, Valaharl found herself strangely captivated.

She seemed to behold a primal totem radiating wildness and wisdom throughout creation!

"And…"

"He appeared beside me at the most critical moment."

"How comforting!"

The will of Bubble World, goddess Valaharl smiled, pressing hands to her chest while savoring the warmth of gratitude.

"I hear Themis has devised new tricks."

"Seemingly…"

"I shouldn’t fall behind either."

"Mm!"

—-

Equally stunned as Valaharl was "Yuan Crocodile" Morax, guiding Trilobite.

Being a Chaos Demon God, he understood the true nature of battling Bubble World.

His perspective remained broader.

"What terrifying cunning!"

"He must’ve planned these explosives buried here long in advance."

"Gimmerly’s scheme, my betrayal of Walifer—all anticipated by him!?"

"No!"

"Perhaps Gimmerly conspired with him from the start!"

A dreadful vision unfolded in Morax’s mind:

The Giant God planting these bizarre "explosives" ages ago, laying traps across vast distances—using Walifer’s greed and Barbatos’s obsession as bait while awaiting demon gods to bite!

"Truly, as Barbatos warned—He’s a fearsome chess player!"

"In this match, Barbatos loses ground!"

"One might even say… Barbatos already lost a round!"

"And then—"

"Boom—!"

A forelimb landed right before Morax.

That was Walifer’s forelimb!

"Gulp…"

Morax swallowed hard.

"This…?"

"Roar—!"

The Giant God emitted a low growl, once more uttering those headache-inducing "monosyllabic divine words."

"This… Does it want me to eat this!?"

"Heavens!"

Morax understood the Giant God’s meaning.

This demanded his pledge of allegiance!

"Making me devour a colleague’s flesh to prove my loyalty!?"

"How vile!"

"What ruthless cruelty!"

As Morax wavered…

"Hum…"

The marks on his head and stomach suddenly blazed with intense brightness!

Ravenous hunger instantly seized his Soul.

"Argh—!"

Driven by his own appetite, he was practically forced onto Walifer’s forelimb; he savagely tore off chunk after chunk of meat and swallowed them!

Soon…

Morax stared at Walifer’s forelimb, now stripped clean to the bare bone.

He then watched as the Giant God picked up the bones, dug a hole, and buried them…

"It’s over…"

"There’s no going back…"

Defeating a core councilor fairly and claiming their seat was one thing; guiding the enemy to cause a core councilor’s death and then devouring his flesh was entirely different.

A duel and murder were worlds apart!

Morax knew he had now given the "Giant God" leverage against him.

Though he already bore the Giant God’s mark, signifying their deal—a mere cricket deal for personal gain usually drew no attention from colleagues.

But now everything changed!

Having consumed Walifer’s flesh, even returning to the Chaos Council would bind him to unwavering loyalty toward the Giant God.

"Was… this part of your scheme too!?"
