Chapter 95
byChapter 95: Avenging the Dead Brothers (3)
Among these four people, only the clan head’s cultivation had reached the Mystery Rank. The other three were merely high-level four-star and five-star magical weapons masters, and there was also one high-level three-star magical weapons master. However, with Lou Yun’s current true strength, one-on-one against anyone except the clan head, he still had hope of winning. But against five at once, he truly had no chance of victory.
Of course, if Chang Xiang intervened to help Lou Yun, that would have been a different story.
But now, Lou Yun wasn’t prepared to have Chang Xiang intervene. The previous round of killing had been one-sided slaughter with him as the aggressor. Although he had used nearly all the attack skills he possessed, he hadn’t fully unleashed his true strength. Naturally, this was to deal with these people before him.
The Wu family hated Lou Yun to the bone, so they wouldn’t engage him one-on-one in a fair manner. With a glance from Clan Head Wu Jing, the other four immediately moved to four directions, surrounding Lou Yun. Wu Jing himself walked straight to face him.
Surrounded by five experts, Lou Yun’s face showed no trace of fear. Instead, he wore a calm smile. The earlier frenzy of killing had vented much of the anger in his heart, so his mind grew calmer. He began pondering countermeasures in his thoughts.
Just as the six were in a standoff, Chang Xiang was the first to mutter softly in surprise: "Eh? Someone’s coming!"
Right after, another voice sounded near the ears of the six: "Tsk tsk tsk, Wu Jing, oh Wu Jing. Your Wu family is completely doomed—this is your retribution. You’ve truly regressed over the years! Your entire clan was nearly wiped out by this kid alone, and now you have five people ganging up on one. If this spreads, who knows how many will laugh their heads off!"
At this moment, another person had appeared. By his tone, he clearly wasn’t a friend of the Wu family!
All six looked toward the direction of the voice. Seeing this person, Lou Yun’s expression shifted subtly because he recognized him.
This person was the horse seller who had sold Lou Yun two Desert Dragon breed horses!
"It’s you, Yi Jin Guan!"
This was shouted by Wu Jing. Since he knew the opponent’s name, he surely knew his origins as well.
But to Lou Yun, this name was extremely unfamiliar. It wasn’t his fault; during his childhood as a "waste," no one ever told him about affairs in the magical weapons world on Spirit Weapon Star. Except for a few extremely famous figures like Granny Bai Cao or Ao Wushen, he knew nothing about others.
However, within Sanhe Nation, the name Yi Jin Guan was hugely renowned. He was even somewhat famous on Spirit Weapon Star because he was Sanhe Nation’s first common weapons master without a magical weapon. He had cultivated to Mystery Rank using only common weapons, and the one he wielded wasn’t Mystery Rank—it was intermediate rank.
Yi Jin Guan still carried his three-star common weapon greatsword on his back and walked slowly to Lou Yun’s side. Lou Yun politely bowed to him and said, "Elder, we meet again!"
Yi Jin Guan laughed heartily and said, "Little brother, impressive strength and guts! To dare slaughter your way into the Wu family alone and wipe them out—I owe you a giant favor. If I get the chance later, I’ll repay it many times over."
This sounded utterly confusing to Lou Yun. He had eliminated the Wu family to avenge his dead brothers; what did it have to do with Yi Jin Guan? Why was he suddenly owing a favor?
After speaking, Yi Jin Guan turned his gaze to Wu Jing. His smile instantly turned to killing intent as he drew the greatsword from his back. Strangely, a thick layer of cloth was wrapped around it.
Staring fixedly at Wu Jing, Yi Jin Guan slowly reached out and unraveled the cloth from the greatsword until the blade was fully exposed.
By now, Lou Yun was considered a master at forging weapons. At a glance at Yi Jin Guan’s greatsword, he knew its grade was mediocre despite its imposing look—it barely ranked as low-tier among intermediate three-star common weapons.
Yi Jin Guan raised the sword toward Wu Jing and said, "Wu Jing, surely you remember this sword? Years ago, you used it to slaughter my entire family. All this time, I’ve kept it because one day, I would kill you with it! Today, with this little brother’s help, I think I can fulfill that wish!"
Hearing this, Lou Yun suddenly understood—Yi Jin Guan and the Wu family had an irreconcilable blood feud. He used this low-grade common weapon solely to one day avenge his kin with it!
Yi Jin Guan turned to Lou Yun and said, "Little brother, Wu Jing is my enemy. Could you yield him to me?"
Though both sought vengeance, Yi Jin Guan’s grudge was far deeper. Lou Yun also knew Yi Jin Guan was helping him since he couldn’t defeat Wu Jing alone. As for the others, all high-level magical weapons masters, he could still fight them.
Lou Yun smiled faintly, nodded, and said, "Alright, I’ll handle the other four!"
"Haha!" Yi Jin Guan laughed loudly. "Splendid! I’ll go first then!"
As the words ended, Yi Jin Guan charged out incredibly fast. The greatsword trembled in the air, casting countless blade shadows as it slashed horizontally at Wu Jing.
Wu Jing clearly didn’t underestimate Yi Jin Guan. He hastily drew his magical weapon—a pair of double hooks—to clash with him.
The two began fighting intensely in a flash.
Lou Yun flipped his hands, and two more Dream Emperor Swords appeared in them. He sneered coldly at the remaining four Wu family members and said, "You four, don’t just stand idle. I’ll send you on your way first!"
Their faces paled instantly. Without another word, they each drew their magical weapons and rushed at Lou Yun.
Although fighting one against four, Lou Yun remained utterly unperturbed, his movements ghostly as he drifted into the encirclement formed by the four opponents.
The two Dream Emperor Swords seemed to transform into two silver dragons, dancing up and down with extraordinary agility under the combined assault of the four magical weapons. The bizarre sword techniques left the four Wu family members utterly unable to defend themselves, only capable of dodging as best they could.
Thus, facing four opponents alone, Lou Yun didn’t lose ground at all, moving alongside the four like a shadow, appearing and vanishing like a ghost.
However, after all, the combined attack of four high-level magical weapons masters was still immensely powerful. Furthermore, having cultivated together for years, they shared formidable tacit understanding. As time passed, Lou Yun gradually found the fight no longer as effortless as at the start. He shifted from pure offense to a mix of attack and defense, then to only attacking without defending. Even his movement technique was affected, his speed slowed, and the battle entered a temporary deadlock.
Meanwhile, Wu Jing and Yi Jin Guan were similarly locked in their struggle. Although Yi Jin Guan possessed slightly higher cultivation, the common weapon he wielded was too low in quality, utterly incapable of clashing head-on with Wu Jing’s magical weapon. Naturally, this hampered him at every turn, making the fight cumbersome, preventing him from finishing off Wu Jing quickly.
Simultaneously, Yi Jin Guan found moments to check on Lou Yun’s situation. Truthfully, though Lou Yun’s strength was evident, in Yi Jin Guan’s eyes, he remained merely a half-grown boy. Fighting Wu Jing alone himself while Lou Yun faced four– Yi Jin Guan felt this was deeply unfair to Lou Yun and constantly feared for his safety.
Another stretch of time passed. Suddenly, a massive battleaxe swept diagonally down towards Lou Yun from behind. Lou Yun was wholly focused on deflecting the attacks of the two magical weapons in front and simultaneously dodging another; he couldn’t spare any attention for his rear. Yi Jin Guan saw it but was entangled by Wu Jing, unable to disengage to rescue him. He could only shout a loud warning: "Careful!"
Lou Yun’s senses were actually sharper than even Yi Jin Guan’s. He naturally spotted the axe descending upon his back. Yet, he genuinely had no way to evade. Resolved, he steeled himself to endure the blow, prioritizing taking down one opponent!
Just then, a sharp, resonant sound, echoing like a dragon’s roar, abruptly erupted. Following instantly, six immense, pure-white longswords, each several meters tall, materialized around Lou Yun and the four Wu family members. Their points aimed skyward, glinting white with intense killing intent radiating from their blades!
"High-level rank technique, ‘Sword Moment’ Six Sword Killing Formation!"
Almost simultaneously, four agonized shrieks pierced the air. Before Lou Yun could comprehend what had happened, he saw the four Wu family high-level magical weapons masters collapse lifeless on the ground. Each man was gruesomely cleaved in half down the middle, entrails and blood pooling everywhere.
The six colossal white swords vanished instantly!
Lou Yun, Yi Jin Guan, and Wu Jing stood frozen as if petrified, maintaining their combat stances, staring dumbstruck at the cleaved corpses strewn across the ground.
None of them had ever witnessed a weapon technique so terrifyingly powerful, capable of instantly annihilating four high-level magical weapons masters with such horrifying brutality.
Gradually, the three snapped out of their shock. Both Wu Jing and Yi Jin Guan now looked at Lou Yun with unmistakable fear and profound shock reflected in their eyes. From their perspective, that devastating strike had undoubtedly been unleashed by Lou Yun.
However, Lou Yun understood. The name of the technique that had echoed in his mind belonged to Chang Xiang. Which meant, that technique was Chang Xiang’s doing!
Lou Yun knew Chang Xiang was certainly a supreme expert, but given his unique status existing as spirit, the few times he had acted were merely to release spiritual energy to save him. Lou Yun had never witnessed Chang Xiang truly launch an offensive attack. This was his first glimpse of it!
"Brother Chang… was that you who just acted?"
After a moment of silence, Chang Xiang’s voice responded, "Hmm. I am a bit weary now, in need of rest. As for the remaining enemy… I believe you should be able to handle it."
"Understood, Brother Chang. Rest well. Thank you."
Lou Yun exhaled a long, deep breath. He cast another glance at the four split corpses on the ground, then finally shifted his cold gaze to Wu Jing. His voice was icy. "Wu Jing. Your son killed my ninety-seven brothers. Originally, I intended to bury your entire Wu family clan to accompany their souls. But now… I’ve changed my mind. Only you and your son need to die. I will spare the remaining elders, women, and children of your Wu family."
The Wu Jing now had none of the dignity or imposing aura of a clan head. Particularly after the blow from Chang Xiang – which had not only slain four of the Wu family’s elite warriors but utterly shattered his confidence – he appeared exceptionally aged and frail.
Hearing Lou Yun’s words, a flicker of hope lit up his clearly aged face. He stared at Lou Yun. "Are you stating the truth?"
Lou Yun nodded expressionlessly.
Wu Jing immediately turned to Yi Jin Guan. "Yi Jin Guan. I know you bear me the deepest hatred. But now I beseech you… In light of the massacre of every single Wu family male… will you spare our elders, women, and children? Naturally, you can rest assured… my life, I will give it to you!"
Yi Jin Guan also regarded Wu Jing with a stony expression. Yet within, a fierce battle raged. His hatred for the Wu family was etched into his very bones. He had sworn countless times to bury the entire clan to atone for his lost kin. Staring at Wu Jing’s defeated state now and considering Lou Yun’s promise, he felt deeply conflicted.
After a prolonged silence, Yi Jin Guan finally spoke slowly, "I can agree to this. But not because your family’s males have been slaughtered. Only out of respect for this young brother beside you. End your own life."
A look of immense relief washed over Wu Jing’s aged face. Suddenly, he flickered like a shadow and reappeared before his son, Wu Shaopin. Wu Shaopin, paralyzed by terror, gazed at his father, murmuring blankly, "F-father?"
A wave of anguish crossed Wu Jing’s face. "My son… I have failed you as a father. Lead the way… I will follow shortly. If another life exists… find a better family." His voice choked.
Hardly had the words left his mouth when he rammed the twin hooks in his hands straight into Wu Shaopin’s chest. Shock and disbelief widened Wu Shaopin’s eyes; he died unable to fathom being killed by his own father. Wu Jing squeezed his eyes shut in agony, utterly unable to bear the sight.
Taking a deep, shuddering breath, Wu Jing strode heavily back to stand before Lou Yun. He stared intently at Lou Yun for long moments. "Could you tell me your name?"
"Lou Yun."
"Lou Yun…" Wu Jing repeated slowly. "A hero among youths. Today, you slaughter most of my Wu clan bloodline… I do not blame you. This is the retribution we brought upon ourselves. But… I implore you to keep your promise."
"Set your mind at ease. I keep my promises."
"Good. This life… is yours."
Wu Jing knelt facing the direction of the Wu family manor grounds. With profound reverence, he performed three deep kowtows. "Unworthy descendant Wu Jing… has brought disgrace upon the ancestral lineage of the Wu family!" Having uttered this, he abruptly lifted the twin hooks and thrust them with all his might into his own chest.
A violent spray of bright blood burst from his mouth. Wu Jing’s body swayed and then toppled backward, crashing heavily onto the blood-soaked earth.
Thus, every male of the Wu family was dead. And Lou Yun had finally avenged Zuo Mingyang’s ninety-seven slain brothers.
