Chapter 134: The Birth of Feng Rong

Previously, You You hadn’t elaborated on why she left the cave due to the Wu Family’s presence, only mentioning she and Wu Yue had accidentally entered the Grievous Spirit Forest. Thus, Yuan Qi and the others remained unaware she’d followed the Soul Breath outside.

“Little Flame recognized this, so I chased after it. Yuan Papa, is this what we need?” You You handed it over.

Yuan Qi examined it carefully before nodding. “This is indeed the Soul Breath.”

You You’s heart leaped. “With this, can Feng Rong emerge safely? No complications?”

“I can’t be certain,” Yuan Qi admitted. “But with my divine power aiding the hatching and the Soul Breath, there’s a ninety percent chance.”

You You clenched her palm, still uneasy. She glanced at the swirling resentful souls above. Even if Feng Rong succeeded, could he handle so many alone?

Nie Zheng frowned, baffled. “Who’s coming out? This egg?” Since when could an egg guide souls?

Though weak against cultivators, souls belonged to the Nether Realm—a place even immortals couldn’t breach. Soul-guiding spells were rare and complex. As an immortal, Nie Zheng could transcend a few souls, but this horde overwhelmed him.

You You ignored him, focusing on the egg. “Little Flame? Can Feng Rong wake now? Any risks?”

The shell stayed silent. She touched it, and sudden white light erupted, piercing the gloom and scattering nearby resentment. The fruit in her hand shot upward, hovering above the egg as its colorful Soul Breath streamed into the shell.

“It agrees,” Yuan Qi said warmly. He stepped forward, forming seals. “You You, I’ll channel divine power to assist him. Keep the souls at bay.”

She nodded, retreating. “Nie Zheng, help!”

“Uh… right!” He summoned his magical tool, repelling souls while Yuan Qi sat cross-legged. Purple light enveloped him, merging with the egg. The shell brightened like a beacon amidst the darkness.

The souls, sensing threat, surged violently. Nie Zheng’s barrier strained under their mindless assault, their wails churning his stomach. “The defenses won’t last! How long?!”

You You’s talismans dwindled. She conjured flames again, but the souls charged through, shrieking pleas: “Save us… anyone, please…”

“Yuan Papa?!”

“Done!” He withdrew his spell.

_Crack._

The egg split, golden light bursting through fissures. Misty radiance exploded skyward, tearing through the resentful haze as a clear phoenix cry drowned the ghosts’ wails.

A colossal phoenix unfurled its wings above—feathers ablaze with color, wings like layered clouds, tail scattering gentle glows. Noble, pristine, otherworldly.

“Divine Clan Phoenix?!” Nie Zheng gaped. A phoenix egg?! Was this the Divine Realm?!

The phoenix swooped down, gusts buffeting Nie Zheng as it snatched You You skyward. Its claws scraped the ground, hurling dirt onto Nie Zheng and Yuan Qi.

Nie Zheng: “……”

Yuan Qi: “……”

_That was deliberate. Absolutely._
