Chapter 368: Cultivation Meeting (Part II)

The young cultivator who questioned Wang Chen came from the dining table to the left of Yang Kaifeng.

This table was closely associated with Yang Kaifeng’s circle, and as he stepped forward to confront Wang Chen, many cultivators cast mocking and disdainful glances in Wang Chen’s direction.

It was as if Wang Chen’s mere presence had tarnished their reputation!

Facing the young cultivator’s challenge, Wang Chen calmly picked up a piece of mushroom, popped it into his mouth, chewed thoughtfully, and then glanced at the other man. “Who are you?”

That single glance infuriated the young cultivator. “I am Lu Pengfei of the Lu family from Lian City!”

“Never heard of you.”

Wang Chen shook his head. “Are you also a newly promoted inner sect disciple of the West Sea Sect?”

Lu Pengfei was undoubtedly of the same generation as Lu Pengze, possibly even his brother.

However, if they were brothers and Lu Pengfei was indeed an inner sect disciple, then Lu Pengze should not have appeared so incompetent that day at The Spring Pavilion.

So Wang Chen posed the question.

As a result, Lu Pengfei’s bravado instantly diminished, his eyes twitching as he remained silent.

“You’re not a disciple of our sect?”

Wang Chen feigned surprise. “How did you manage to sneak into this cultivation meeting?”

The question struck Lu Pengfei like a slap to the face, and his face turned crimson. “I am a disciple of the West Sea Sect!”

“Then you must be an outer sect disciple.”

Wang Chen’s expression darkened. “You, an outer sect disciple, dare to question me, an inner sect disciple? Do you even understand the hierarchy?”

He suddenly noticed that although Lu Pengfei exuded the aura of a Purple Palace cultivator, there was a hint of instability and restlessness in his energy.

This suggested that the young Purple Palace cultivator’s foundation was shaky, revealing a superficiality in his cultivation.

Wang Chen suspected that Lu Pengfei had likely achieved his breakthrough through the use of elixirs!

There are cultivators whose natural talent is limited but who possess great wealth, resorting to consuming elixirs to forcefully break through when they encounter a bottleneck.

Such cultivators may attain high ranks, but their actual combat strength falls short compared to their peers.

Moreover, their potential is severely limited.

In simpler terms, they rely on elixirs to cultivate, unable to progress without them.

What a joke!

Lu Pengfei’s face turned from red to pale, then to a sickly green.

He involuntarily took a step back, his eyes darting toward Yang Kaifeng in a desperate plea for help.

What a pathetic sight!

Yang Kaifeng, who had been enjoying the spectacle, had no choice but to stand up and laugh. “We are all sect disciples, Wang…”

“It is precisely because we are sect disciples that we must respect the hierarchy!”

Wang Chen cut him off. “Elder Bai He told me that disciples of the West Sea Sect are not to be disrespected by just anyone, and that I must uphold the dignity of being an inner sect disciple.”

“Yang Kaifeng, do you really think the elder is wrong?”

Elder Bai He!

Not just Yang Kaifeng, but every cultivator present changed their expressions.

There was only one Elder Bai He in Lian City, and that was the True Master White Crane, a powerful cultivator at Golden Core perfection, stationed at the South Domain Palace!

Yang Kaifeng never dreamed that Wang Chen had actually met True Master White Crane.

It seemed like they were quite close!

His reason for allowing and even encouraging Lu Pengfei to trouble Wang Chen was to play the role of a peacemaker, hoping to step in when Wang Chen found himself in a difficult position, allowing both sides to resolve their differences peacefully.

The ultimate goal was to take Wang Chen as a little brother.

But the premise was that Wang Chen really had no identity or background, relying solely on luck to get into the West Sea Sect.

Now that he thought about it, he realized he had been careless; how could someone become an inner sect disciple of the West Sea Sect without being a significant figure?

Wang Chen had actually taken the path of True Master White Crane!

Yang Kaifeng felt deep regret.

Had he known this, he would have treated Wang Chen like a distinguished guest and invited him to sit at the main table to build a rapport.

Now, things had almost turned hostile, which was a terrible mistake!

Frustrated, Yang Kaifeng did not consider the possibility that Wang Chen could be lying—who would dare use the name of a Golden Core true master as a facade?

He quickly plastered on a smile. “Elder Bai He is absolutely right!”

“Lu Pengfei!”

Yang Kaifeng sharply reprimanded the astonished Lu Pengfei beside him, “Aren’t you going to quickly apologize to Wang Chen?”

Lu Pengfei felt a mix of anger and hatred but also fear, lowering his head to say, “I’m sorry, Wang Chen. I was wrong.”

Yang Kaifeng smiled apologetically. “Wang Chen, Pengfei is young and doesn’t know better; he can be a bit reckless. Please forgive him, and I’ll apologize on his behalf!”

As he spoke, he raised his goblet and drank it down in one go.

Yang Kaifeng truly didn’t care about Lu Pengfei’s fate.

But tonight’s gathering was organized and initiated by him; if things turned too ugly, not only would he feel he wasted spirit stones, but he would also lose face entirely.

He would become the laughingstock of the circle!

Wang Chen shook his head. “It’s fine.”

Yang Kaifeng was quite the character; he could be flexible and thick-skinned. For someone like Lu Pengfei, it wasn’t worth openly confronting him and giving others a spectacle.

Of course, he had no intention of getting closer to him.

Let’s just keep to ourselves moving forward!

Wang Chen stood up. “Thank you for the hospitality, but I’m full. Goodbye.”

Yang Kaifeng had intended to invite Wang Chen to sit at the main table, but before he could say anything, Wang Chen had already left.

The atmosphere in the private room fell into an inexplicable awkwardness!

Yang Kaifeng inwardly cursed but maintained a smile on his face. “It’s fine that Wang Chen has left; let’s continue.”

He waved at the performers. “Keep the music and dance going!”

Meanwhile, Wang Chen stepped out from Lian Tai and walked along the wide, straight road.

The night scene of Lian City was bustling and beautiful, with lights and sounds intertwining. Wang Chen navigated through the crowded streets, slowly digesting the spiritual food he had consumed, and his mind gradually became calm and peaceful.

To be honest, he hadn’t truly enjoyed the charm of this immortal city.

He had only seen it as a transit point on his long cultivation journey.

Two days later, Wang Chen returned to the South Domain Palace.

Today was the day he would leave Lian City.

After presenting his identity token, a cultivator led Wang Chen to a grand hall within the palace.

The hall was brightly lit, with over a hundred people gathered inside.

All were Purple Palace cultivators!

Wang Chen recognized several familiar faces among the crowd.

Yang Kaifeng and Lu Pengfei, among others.

Yang Kaifeng smiled at Wang Chen, while Lu Pengfei directly avoided his gaze.

After a while, the grand hall doors boomed shut, revealing a faint glow on the ground.

At this moment, a palace cultivator distributed an elixir to everyone, saying, “Keep it in your mouth for now; don’t swallow it yet.”

Wang Chen took the spirit pill and placed it in his mouth, feeling a sharp energy surge directly through to his great heavenly opening.

He felt more energized overall!

The next moment, the ground began to shake, and the glow intensified, enveloping everyone present.

Wang Chen felt all his magical power trapped within his energy field, rendering him completely immobile.

“Enough!”

A deep and commanding voice instantly pierced his ears, making him feel dizzy, as he lost all control over himself.

He couldn’t even discern the surroundings, his consciousness sinking into boundless chaos!
