Chapter 369: Entrance Trial

Wang Chen’s first experience of teleportation was utterly dreadful.

It was the most harrowing experience of his life.

During the teleportation, his consciousness was in disarray, his mind unable to think clearly, while his five organs felt as though they were being ruthlessly squeezed by an invisible hand, leaving him nauseous yet unable to vomit.

The terrifying part was that this sensation persisted for an agonizingly long time.

So long that it threatened to push one to the brink of madness!

Only when a sudden burst of light illuminated his vision and his nearly uncontrollable body landed on solid ground did the nausea finally subside.

Wang Chen’s consciousness swiftly returned.

At that moment, he found himself standing in an extraordinarily magnificent hall.

A beam of pale light descended from the dome, casting its glow upon a towering figure that stood with an imposing and awe-inspiring presence.

The next instant, the figure opened its eyes.

It was as if a flash of lightning had streaked through the hall in an instant!

The hundred or so cultivators who had teleported alongside Wang Chen into the grand hall fell into a hushed silence, their hearts chilled by the overwhelming atmosphere.

A Golden Core true master!

“I am Zixiao.”

A deep, resonant voice echoed through the hall, shaking the very souls of the young cultivators. “I serve as the supervising elder of the inner sect of the West Sea Sect, tasked with overseeing the entrance trial for new disciples…”

Many faces in the hall paled at his words.

According to Elder Zixiao, they were not yet considered true disciples of the West Sea Sect. To earn their place, they would need to pass the entrance trial.

Those who failed would be demoted from inner sect disciples to outer sect, while outer sect disciples would be sent back to their origins!

Upon hearing that they needed to pass an assessment to truly join the sect, the hall erupted into chaos.

One cultivator couldn’t hold back and protested, “Elder Zixiao, there was never such a rule in the past…”

“Just because it didn’t exist before doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist now!”

Before the cultivator could finish, Elder Zixiao coldly cut him off. “In recent years, the standards for joining the sect have been lowered, resulting in a decline in the quality of both inner and outer sect disciples. Starting this year, this rule will be strictly enforced.”

Was this just bad timing?

Wang Chen had initially assumed the entrance trial was a standard procedure, but he hadn’t anticipated it being a newly implemented rule.

He felt a twinge of frustration, realizing that the West Sea Sect’s standards were indeed formidable.

However, some of the others grew visibly agitated.

“Why did it have to start with us?”

Another young cultivator blurted out impatiently, “I refuse to accept this!”

Refuse?

Wang Chen couldn’t help but glance at the hot-headed cultivator.

The dignified Golden Core true master, the supervising elder of the inner sect, whose words were as binding as the law, was not someone new disciples could question.

Wang Chen immediately sensed that the young cultivator was about to face misfortune.

Crack!

A bolt of lightning aspect instantly struck the young cultivator on the head, leaving him charred and bleeding from all his orifices as he collapsed to the floor.

The other cultivators, who had been feeling aggrieved, watched this scene with their hearts pounding in fear.

Everyone tightly shut their mouths and lowered their heads in earnest terror.

This was the West Sea Sect, the greatest immortal sect in the Mountain-Sea Realm. Was this a place where they could act recklessly?

The answer was obviously no!

The guy lying on the ground, convulsing, was the most vivid example of a “chicken.”

Elder Zixiao waved his robe sleeve, and the young cultivator vanished without a trace.

He lightly said, “Anyone else who is unsatisfied, I can send him back too.”

Silence filled the hall.

No one knew where their fellow cultivator had just been sent by Elder Zixiao.

But it was certain that he had lost his qualification for entrance!

Everyone had poured countless efforts and paid high costs. After enduring many hardships, they had finally stepped into the threshold of the West Sea Sect, just a step away from entering. They needed to kick that last door down, no matter what it took.

All dissenting voices vanished.

“Very good.”

Elder Zixiao flicked the dust whisk he held, and thousands of silver threads floated in the air, shedding countless shimmering lights.

They formed two stunning galaxies shimmering with light in the sky!

“Inner sect is above, outer sect is below.”

The supervising elder of the sect said solemnly, “You will each choose a trial task to complete within a month.”

After a pause, he added, “No restrictions on the methods used.”

No restrictions on the methods?

Many cultivators’ eyes instantly brightened.

They had no full confidence in passing the entry assessment, and since this Elder Zixiao didn’t seem easy to deal with, they hadn’t expected him to leave some leeway.

If the task proved too difficult, they could always ask for outside help.

It was just a matter of how much it would cost!

Some cultivators from well-established backgrounds were eager to try and hastily began to select their tasks.

The floating orbs of light represented various tasks, and what task one would draw depended on luck.

Everyone used Object Manipulation to draw the selected light orbs into their hands.

Newly admitted inner sect disciples chose from the top, while Outer Sect Disciples chose from the bottom, each group clearly distinguished.

The moment the light orbs were grasped, they vanished, and the few fastest cultivators displayed varied expressions: some smiled, others furrowed their brows, and some looked as if they wanted to cry!

Elder Zixiao saw all their expressions, his demeanor indifferent and emotionless.

Wang Chen also pulled a glowing sphere into his hand.

In his Sea of Consciousness, a piece of information or memory suddenly appeared.

It was about the trial task he had selected!

Wang Chen’s task was a pursuit mission.

The target of the pursuit was an evil cultivator named Zhou Shenzhi.

He was originally a true disciple from a subordinate faction, but during his attempt to break through to open a house, he was accidentally possessed by Evil Spirits, leading to a breakdown of his mind. He ended up killing several of his own master and senior brothers.

He was currently on the run, having recently been spotted near an immortal city called “Panshi.”

Wang Chen’s task was to capture or kill Zhou Shenzhi, and upon completion, he could earn two hundred or one hundred contribution points as a reward.

This memory also included detailed information about Zhou Shenzhi, such as his appearance, background, current cultivation level, and the magical tools and spells he used.

After reading the task details, Wang Chen fell into deep contemplation.

This task was not very difficult; Zhou Shenzhi went evil during his breakthrough, so his level of possession wasn’t very deep. His cultivation level was at most comparable to his own.

Even if his cultivation was a bit higher, Wang Chen was confident he could win.

The challenge lay in how to uncover this evil cultivator!

Wang Chen was not originally from the West Sea Spiritual Realm and had no relatives here; he had no connections whatsoever.

He had no family influence to rely on and no friends.

To complete this task, he could only rely on himself!

“Remember, you only have one month.”

While he was thinking, Elder Zixiao’s voice rang in his ears again.

In the next moment, Wang Chen felt an overwhelming force sweep through, enveloping him completely.

After a dizzying spin, Wang Chen found himself outside the grand hall.

He appeared on a bustling city street!
