Chapter 459: The Inferiority of Humanity

The trio led by Chu Haoran radiated crushing pressure like tidal waves. Their fourth-level Golden Core stage cultivation far exceeded what Zhang Yicheng’s group from Yun Hua Sect could handle. Any one of them could slaughter Zhang’s party beneath the raging heavenly thunder in mere moments.

The Yun Hua disciples paled. Against such overwhelming power, resistance seemed impossible.

"Killing you all outright would be boring," Chu Haoran suddenly paused, lips curling into a smirk. "Let’s make this interesting. Discuss among yourselves – only six may live. Your comrades will decide who breathes their last."

Zhang Yicheng’s group froze. They’d been ready to face death together, resolved to make their enemies pay dearly even in defeat. This unexpected twist left them speechless.

The Yun Hua disciples exchanged uneasy glances. Six survivors? Moments ago they’d steeled themselves for certain death. Now flickers of hope rekindled as calculating looks passed between them.

"Junior Brother Li! Why are you staring at me?" barked a disciple.

"Senior Brother Yi misunderstands. My gaze merely wandered," another replied coolly.

"Keep your eyes and tongue in check," Yi snapped.

"Since when does a glance warrant such suspicion?" Li’s expression darkened. "Senior Brother Qin – does this seem reasonable to you?"

A third disciple sneered, "Settle your own quarrels. Important decisions require Senior Brother Zhang’s guidance."

All eyes turned to Zhang Yicheng, their appointed leader.

Understanding dawned on Zhang. "Don’t fall for this!" he roared. "Chu Haoran toys with us like a cat tormenting mice! He wants to watch us tear each other apart!"

Chu Haoran spread his hands innocently. "I keep my promises. Six shall walk out alive – this I swear as a fourth-level Golden Core cultivator."

The Yun Hua disciples began exchanging furtive looks. Zhang’s urgency grew. "Even if we survive through betrayal, our sect’s laws await! Murdering comrades means execution – you know this!"

Pale faces twitched at the reminder of Yun Hua Sect’s merciless discipline.

"Laws?" Chu Haoran chuckled. "In Thunder Falls Valley? Where lightning might vaporize us all tomorrow? Where spirits get erased daily? Who’ll report anything back?"

The disciples’ resolve wavered again. Zhang Yicheng glared at their tormentor. "Xuan Yuan Sect’s vile tricks! Kill me first, for I’ll never permit brothers to slaughter each other!"

His righteous fury momentarily shamed the group. Chu Haoran yawned. "Pathetic. Miserable life beats glorious death. Let them choose their own fates."

"My life’s mine to control!" Senior Brother Yi suddenly shouted. "Make Chu Haoran swear on the Heavenly Dao!"

Others took up the cry. "Swear! Or we don’t believe!"

Zhang Yicheng watched coldly as desperate voices overlapped. The will to survive had infected them all.

"See how your juniors understand life’s value?" Chu Haoran taunted. "Even crawling through dirt beats being a corpse."

Zhang’s face drained of color. "May the survivors never escape their shame. If three must die…" Light gathered at his fingertips as he pressed them to his forehead. "I’ll be first."

The Yun Hua disciples gasped. Even Chu Haoran’s group froze, unprepared for such resolve.

A blur of swirling shadows intercepted the deathblow.

"Living’s more entertaining than dying, no?" drawled a new voice. A smirking youth materialized, blocking Zhang’s hand.
