Chapter 496: Similarities Between Dwarves and Demons

"Don’t tell me what I know or don’t know, demon!" Greed immediately shouted. "I warn you…"

"You are the master’s friend," Molofeel said calmly as Jesse stood in front of him. "So I won’t harm you, but you better not show so much hostility, making our interaction meaningless trouble."

Greed quickly glanced at Jesse and then stared at the succubus, saying, "How can I not be cautious facing a demon?! Especially one like you, a Sayaad."

"Jesse, you know those Sayaad that came out of the Dark Portal. You’ve killed several, you should know how terrifying they are, how many of those monsters have killed us!"

"I know, Greed," Jesse nodded.

The dwarf sniffed and said, "Damn, it’s this smell. It makes me feel like I’m back at Nethergarde again. You ghosts really stink…"

Molofeel smiled and said, "It’s best not to compare me to those mindless creatures who obey the Burning Legion, Mr. Thunderfist."

"How can I tell the difference between you?" Greed asked, "They all look the same to me!"

"Well, to help you distinguish better, let me show you the most obvious difference," Molofeel turned and said, "Look, I have no wings."

"No wings?" Greed, who was originally angry, was puzzled for a moment.

Jesse felt it was a bit sudden for Dwarf Wildhammer to meet a succubus like this. He gently pushed Greed out the door, saying, "Alright, let’s take a walk outside, don’t be mad… Greed."

Greed, still looking confused, was dragged by Jesse to the alley. After a while, he looked at Jesse and pointed towards a house, saying, "That Sayaad Demon indeed has no wings, did you notice?"

"Did I notice?" Jesse frowned and said, "Do you think I might not have noticed? She had her wings torn off by her previous owner, maybe because that person was too strong and damaged her soul’s integrity. So despite being resurrected a few times later, she couldn’t grow her wings back."

"Soul’s integrity? Resurrected?" Greed asked, "What are you talking about…?"

"I’ll explain to you slowly later."

Jesse brought Greed to the riverbank. Sitting on a platform by the water, Greed said, "I’ve never seen a wingless Sayaad before. That monster was right, they look quite different."

"Why are you so interested in her wings?" Jesse asked.

"It feels strange," Greed said. "I always thought demons looked the same, maybe with different weapons or horns. It’s hard to tell demons apart on the battlefield based on looks, but the difference of having wings or not is clearer."

After mentioning his broken wings, Jesse noticed a change in Greed’s attitude. Could it be because it reminded him of his own eyes?

But for a Dwarf Wildhammer to sympathize with a demon was really unusual, so Jesse quickly pushed that thought out of his mind.

"I didn’t expect you to accept this demon right away, Greed. But she has helped me a lot and never harmed me. I just felt it wasn’t right to keep hiding it from you, but didn’t find a good chance to tell you before."

"You should have told me from the beginning. What if that demon summoned by you harmed me and I didn’t even know it! Sayaad is no imp!" the dwarf said. "But Jesse Seso, no wonder every time we went out, no matter which inn we visited, you seemed indifferent. Turns out you were never lacking food or drink! That succubus is really beautiful, no wonder you’re not interested in the girls outside, you rascal."

"Do you really find a demon beautiful? Have you been charmed?" Jesse asked.

"The way you put it, maybe…" Greed touched his face and said, "Have I been charmed? How do you know if you’ve been charmed?"

"Touching your face is absolutely useless," Jesse said. "But don’t worry, she shouldn’t have charmed you. She listens to my commands, even if it’s a Charm spell."

"Does she listen to everything?" Greed asked. "Like that imp?"

Jesse said, "Most, almost all, listen."

Greed nodded knowingly, then chuckled and said, "I feel like I’m straying further from the teachings of the Sages, Jesse. I’m starting to envy your demon a little."

Jesse said, "You can go to Shadowforge City this time. They will surely accept you."

"Forget it," Greed said. "I prefer a colorful single life. I’ve already gone through similar emotions once, don’t need a second time. Do you think some elves are so much better than succubus?"

"I admit, keeping a succubus by my side does have its benefits…" Jesse said. "But Molofeel, as a demon, brings me more than just that. For instance, without her, I might never have learned how to kill Azgath’s magic."

"You mean, that dark meteor magic," Greed said.

"Yes," Jesse said. "She knows shadows very well… If I want to further control shadow, without her advice and guidance, it would definitely be much harder."

"Now, she will surely be a great help to our journey to Kalimdor. The Reliquary gave me the task of tracking down a very old Elf Warlock, and from my previous investigation… it seems very likely that this person is a master of demonology. Molofeel is skilled at dealing with demons, trust me, Greed is very skilled too. If we bring her to Kalimdor, our chances of getting more rewards will greatly increase."

"I don’t doubt that," Greed said. "During the time at the Dark Portal, those Sayaad Demons were all sneaky assassins hiding in the shadows, very different from the succubus in the rumors of mages from Dalaran. I can also feel that your companion is very strong. Just from exchanging a few moves with her, I know that one day I should have a fair duel with her…"

"Alright, as long as you promise that this demon won’t sneak into my tent at night like others to bother me, I can accept her help in making money, Jesse. But, what about the elven companion? Have you thought about that?"

"Of course, I have." Jesse said. "So, before heading to Deadwind Pass, I plan to write a letter to Vereesa to ask about the situation with that ranger."
