Chapter 507
byChapter 507: New Herbs From the Mysterious Continent
In the evening, Jesse and Ursula cleaned the hallway with a purifying potion to get rid of shadows and demon blood. After making it smell much better, Jesse returned to the room.
"What should we do about the broken window?" Jesse asked.
"I’ll get someone to fix it, just need to come up with a reason," Ursula said. "Not many people care about these old buildings now, as long as we don’t let the scent of shadows and demon blood leak out for the people at the Wizard’s Sanctum to find."
"What about this demon body?" Jesse said. "Should we go find Erlan?"
"That seems like the only option," Ursula replied.
"I’ll go to Goldshire," Jesse said as he stood up.
Ursula asked, "Right now?"
"I can’t sleep with this demon around," Jesse said, putting on his cloak. "Take care, Ursula. But there shouldn’t be any more trouble, right?"
"Gone, Jesse," Ursula said.
Jesse nodded, wandered around the alley for a while to make sure no other demons were hiding here, then hurried to Erlan’s house in Goldshire overnight.
After explaining the basic situation to Erlan, the two of them rode a carriage back to Stormwind at night, where they were questioned by the gate guards for a while. Finally, they managed to come up with an excuse to get in. It was already late in the night.
After all the commotion, Erlan felt very sleepy, but as soon as he saw the demon’s body, he was wide awake.
"What the heck is this thing? Why have I never seen it before?"
"Wait for me to copy some information from the library in the Wizard’s Sanctum for you, then you’ll understand," Jesse said. "It’s definitely a demon."
"Of course I can tell it’s a demon," Erlan frowned and asked Ursula, "Did you summon this one this time, or was it Jesse?"
"Did it count as summoning?" Ursula smiled bitterly. "Someone summoned the demon to come and kill me."
Erlan was somewhat surprised. "The person you angered seems to be quite skilled!"
"I understand." Ursula said, "So I will need your help later to move important things from my house to The Slaughtered Lamb in Drudgemoor. I can’t stay here anymore."
"No problem, but let’s take it one step at a time, Miss Deline." Erlan said, "Right now, the most important thing is to take care of this body, can you help me with that?"
Jesse nodded, and the three of them together cut up the demon body that had lost its magic support and started to shrivel, packing it into Erlan’s brought bag and placing it in the carriage under the cover of night.
After almost finishing the body parts disposal and cleaning up the remaining demon blood, the sky was starting to brighten.
Luckily there weren’t many people on the street, Jesse looked at the desolate morning street, while Erlan drove the carriage towards the just-rising hazy sun, feeling his heart still pounding in his chest.
At this moment, he realized he couldn’t simply walk away from everything and calmly be a warlock, or rather, a villain.
The carriage wheels creaked and moved away slowly, Ursula leaned in close and whispered, "Don’t think that last night… was just to make you agree to go to Kalimdor."
Jesse nodded and said, "That’s impossible, you’d better have my reward ready, Ursula."
"Of course." Ursula said, "But you should know what I want you to do first."
"Speak up," said Jesse.
"There are some strange bugs living in the southern Kalimdor," Ursula said. "I have a goblin’s travelogue here, which describes the appearance, habits and locations of these bugs. I will gather the important information for you, and you can go find them. Basically, I need a specimen, the more complete the better, so I can see what kind of effect the bugs’ organs or body parts may have."
Jesse knew exactly what strange bugs Ursula was talking about.
Living deep in the desert, spreading for thousands of miles, even extending to underground bug dens beyond the desert, the Silithid in the southern Kalimdor are actually a remnant species of the ancient dark empire created by the Old God.
After the Old God was defeated and sealed in battle with the Titan, these insect tribes gradually broke away from the Old God’s control over the countless millennia, evolving into various giant insect species.
However, as the decaying seals lost their power little by little over time, many insect tribes once again felt the vague influence of the buried ancient god’s will underground…
"I heard those bugs are very huge." He said. "How can I bring them back to you?"
"It’s even better if you know about those bugs," Ursula said. "Try to find some smaller ones… or, bringing back a portion would also work. Very few goblins appreciate the benefits these bugs bring, so they are rarely brought over here. I have hardly heard of any Alchemist obtaining samples from there, so I have to rely on you."
"If I encounter them, I will try to get some for you," Jesse said. "Although I probably shouldn’t ask… Ursula, are you still planning to retaliate against that merchant from Stratholme?"
Ursula said, "After all, he killed my father, so I definitely won’t let him off easily. But… maybe I should find out why he had a grudge against my father in the first place. Before… maybe I acted impulsively, so for now, I’ll lay low and make him think I’m dead, disappeared, or ran away."
Jesse hesitated for a moment and said, "Do you remember the letter I delivered to you? Maybe you should pay a little attention to that person?"
Ursula replied, "I know, but he is my father’s cousin and also his best friend. In the beginning, without him, I probably couldn’t have escaped from Lordaeron. But I may not be able to contact him anymore. I don’t want to suspect him, but you’re right, I have to consider all possibilities… And even if he didn’t mean to harm me, reaching out to him could still put him in danger."
"I’ll feel better knowing that you understand." Jesse nodded and said, "I just don’t want the Alchemist Master I saved with so much effort to disappear in the blink of an eye."
Ursula smiled and said, "Although you saved my life, don’t underestimate me too much, Jesse. By the way, did you manage to get the Essence of Undeath this time you went out?"
"Yes, I did," Jesse replied, "I couldn’t enter your Alchemy Room, so I left it with Jalane."
Ursula nodded and said, "Zardeth brought back some Essence of Fire last week, he still takes great care of this Shadow Council robe. I have prepared the base of that robe for Jalane, it’s with her now. It’s just a matter of enchanting it with the power of fire and Essence of Undeath. I think we can start the final process soon, don’t you think?"
"Then let’s arrange a meeting with Zardeth and get this done," Jesse suggested.
