Chapter 508: Ice Spirit False Pill

The Little Absorption Technique hadn’t seen use in a long time. As Ye Yun’s cultivation level advanced, his natural absorption of spiritual energy had improved significantly. Unless under special circumstances, the technique’s effectiveness no longer stood out.

Yet now, the icy essence within the North Sea Xuan Ice House surged with overwhelming intensity, crashing in like tidal waves. At Ye Yun’s usual absorption rate, even half a year of cultivation here would barely make a dent. But with the Heart of Immortals and Demons aiding him, he could devour vast amounts of icy essence without harm. With only fifteen days allotted, he resolved to absorb relentlessly—the more the Heart absorbed, the purer and denser the spiritual energy it would feed back.

Activating the Little Absorption Technique multiplied his absorption speed tenfold. The Heart of Immortals and Demons, already swift, now churned the icy essence into hair-thin streams that pierced every pore of Ye Yun’s body, flooding him with cold.

The technique required no further input once activated, and the Heart needed no guidance. Ye Yun focused on enduring the endless cold with his flesh and true qi, letting it temper his Great Demon Body into greater resilience.

Soon, Ye Yun sank into deep meditation. Icy essence poured into his body, flowing through meridians and five internal organs before converging at his brow, where the Heart devoured it all.

One day, two days, three days…

Time blurred as Ye Yun lost himself entirely to cultivation.

Had Shu Anshi returned, he’d have gaped in shock. The Xuan Ice House, once so saturated with icy essence that ordinary Golden Core disciples struggled to enter, now felt noticeably thinner. The walls’ biting cold had softened.

But Shu Anshi didn’t return. Unseen, the North Sea Xuan Ice House became Ye Yun’s crucible of advancement.

Fifteen days passed neither quickly nor slowly.

On the thirteenth day, Ye Yun’s body shuddered, jolting him awake. Inner vision revealed a faint glow pulsing at his dantian, radiating cold—a sign of spiritual energy condensing toward liquefaction. When fully coalesced, it would form a False Pill. Should that pseudo-core fracture and release its essence, a true Golden Core might emerge.

Surprise flickered through Ye Yun. He’d absorbed limited icy essence, yet Ice Spirit Qi showed liquefaction signs—and this was before the Heart’s feedback! What might happen if the Heart expelled ultra-pure Ice Spirit Qi to merge with this nascent core?

As he wondered, the black-white whirlpool at his brow stalled. No more icy essence flowed into it.

*Whoosh!*

A frigid yet bearable energy erupted from the whirlpool, engulfing Ye Yun head to toe.

Coolness cascaded through him, invigorating every cell. The energy washed over organs and limbs before pooling at his dantian, enveloping the icy glow.

Moments later, the glow crystallized into a pigeon-egg-sized orb, translucent with swirling liquid within—a False Pill.

An Ice Spirit False Pill, condensed in mere days through the Heart’s aid. Remarkable, considering Ye Yun primarily cultivated Thunder Spirit Qi and spatial laws, neglecting ice-fire energies and sword intent.

Despite absorbing thunder mysteries in Thunder Falls Valley and refining Thunder Spirit Qi from two Thunder Woods, his thunder energy only formed a faint shadow near his dantian—still half a step from False Pill formation. He’d assumed Thunder Spirit Qi would condense first, followed by other energies in his Golden Core ascent.

Yet the North Sea Xuan Ice House defied expectations. Its environment, combined with the Heart and Little Absorption Technique, forged a False Pill from his modest Ice Spirit Qi in under fifteen days.

Ye Yun opened his eyes, a sharp glint flashing—had it touched anything beyond the ice house, instant freezing would’ve followed. Here, it left no trace.

Testing his control, he willed the Ice Spirit False Pill to rotate. Pure Ice Spirit Qi gushed forth, trickling then torrential, flooding every meridian.

Now, a thought could unleash icy power to freeze his surroundings.

Elated, Ye Yun sprang up and slapped the entrance. The ice door creaked open, admitting light that slowed perceptibly in the cold.

Outside, the door shut behind him as blue mist seeped from his pores. It shuddered and solidified into a crystalline barrier—the true Ice Spirit Barrier.

Ye Yun gauged its strength: even a Fifth or Sixth Level Golden Core expert’s full strike might fail to breach it.

In high-stakes battles, moments decide outcomes. This barrier could buy the instant needed to unleash his ultimate attack—the Sword of the Thunder God.

Where his formidable physique once sufficed, the Ice Spirit Barrier now offered reliable defense. With both shield and thunderblade, he could fight unrestrained.

Though his cultivation level hadn’t risen, his combat prowess soared.

Ice Spirit Qi thrummed within as Ye Yun roared, summoning icy power.

“Ice Sealing a Thousand Miles!”

Icy essence exploded outward. A hundred zhang froze instantly, glittering brutally under sunlight—the technique’s true might, finally unveiled.
