Chapter 562: Each with Their Own Thoughts

As Ye Yun’s cultivation level improved, his grasp of the heavenly laws naturally deepened. He felt certain it wouldn’t be long before he reached peak Golden Core and attempted the Nascent Soul stage.

The real challenge had been condensing his Golden Core. Once formed, no further enlightenment would be needed until the sixth level’s heavenly tribulation. The heavenly laws he’d comprehended already sufficed to propel him to Nascent Soul.

The sixth-level Golden Core tribulation held no fear for him – mere child’s play. As for the Nascent Soul stage itself, he recalled the Ancestor of the Sword Path’s words: "Nascent Soul means nothing. Once my soul recovers, I’ll guide you there myself."

Even with only one-third of his soul remaining, the Ancestor spoke with such conviction. When fully restored, his memories would surely contain valuable Nascent Soul insights. Ye Yun clung to this hope.

"Master speaks of distant horizons," Ye Yun said with practiced humility. "This disciple barely touches first-level Golden Core. Nascent Soul remains remote, let alone transcending mortality."

"You’re the strangest disciple I’ve ever taught." Tian Yunzi’s voice slipped directly into his ear. "Multiple exotic spiritual energies. Sword intent mastered. In millennia, none matched you. Heaven’s chosen, clearly. That’s why I took you as disciple."

Ye Yun kept flying, face impassive. After a beat, he transmitted back: "This disciple remembers Master’s teachings. I’ll not disappoint your faith." He paused. "My duel with Jun Ruolan revealed flaws. Her true qi overwhelms mine, carrying some strange force that shackles my energy."

Tian Yunzi answered slowly: "Moon Goddess Palace recruits before age five. Their disciples train with supreme techniques, finest resources, mightiest tutors. Among Human Realm’s Eight Major Sects, their mystic arts reign supreme. Jun Ruolan’s peculiar qi is no stranger than your Thunder and Ice Spirit Qi."

"What precautions for Misty Sect?" Ye Yun asked.

Tian Yunzi’s casual glance hid sharp glints. "The Misty trip’s mere pretext. I brought you to use Thousand Mechanisms Guide at Burning Divine Platform."

"But Misty Sect lies a hundred thousand miles from Divine Grace Palace!"

"Burning Divine Platform’s spatial laws exceed Earth Immortal comprehension. Thousand Mechanisms Guide unlocks it within million-mile range." Tian Yunzi shrugged. "The Platform’s incomplete, needing its Guide counterpart. Merge both, and…"

"But beyond tens of thousands miles, only souls may pass. Use it in your Misty guest room – their pride forbids spying on guests. They’ll see sleep, not secrets."

"Soul entry? If damaged there…"

"At Golden Core, brief soul separation’s safe." Tian Yunzi’s voice chilled. "Unwilling?"

"Merely cautious."

The chill vanished. "Would I risk my star pupil? True bodies trigger detection. Soul state avoids restrictions. You’ll see others unseen – like ghosts, but stronger. Thousand Mechanisms Guide links soul to body. Think of return, and the spatial passage opens."

Ye Yun flew on, mind racing. Refusal meant death at Misty Sect, blamed on them. Agreement risked soul-trapping… yet refusal meant certain doom.

"I’ll need full details to prepare."

"Clever lad." Tian Yunzi smiled. "You’ll inherit my position yet. Nascent Soul within two years – my guarantee."

"Gratitude, Master." Ye Yun’s reply dripped false warmth.

Both knew their alliance balanced on mutual deceit. Tian Yunzi coveted Ye Yun’s heaven-blessed luck for accessing Saint’s Secret Vault. Yu Qingzhi had sealed the vault key, never guessing Thousand Mechanisms Guide’s true purpose…

"Approaching Misty Sect." Cheng Yuweng’s voice cut through three days’ flight. Ahead, mist parted around jagged peaks. The sect loomed.
