Chapter 572: The Life Treasure (Part One)

Time seemed to freeze at that moment.

A colossal hand of immense power was about to grasp the magical flying ship in its five fingers.

The attacker targeting Wang Chen was clearly not an ordinary Golden Core true master; with the move "Controlling Heaven and Earth," he had reached an extraordinarily high realm.

There were no flashy moves, just a forceful reliance on his powerful cultivation level, pressing Wang Chen down without any chance of resistance!

However, just as the Golden Core cultivator was about to crush the flying ship, a narrow rift suddenly tore through the sky ten miles away, and a dazzling sword light shot forth.

In an instant, it sliced through the colossal hand!

“Ah!”

A chilling scream suddenly erupted, followed by an angry roar that thundered: “Yan Wushuang!”

Within the flying ship, Wang Chen felt his spirit lighten, regaining his ability to move.

Yan Wushuang was the true name of Changhe Zhenren.

The last talisman Wang Chen had just activated was meant to call for help from his Master!

Changhe Zhenren remained within the gates of the West Sea Sect, but through this treasure symbol, he had accurately located the attacker and dealt a heavy blow from afar.

This also relieved Wang Chen from his peril.

Despite being furious to the extreme after losing a hand, the Golden Core cultivator did not lose his rationality; before his voice tapered off, he transformed into a streak of flowing light and instantly vanished without a trace.

He had suffered a significant loss.

In order to deal with Wang Chen, a mere Purple Palace cultivator, he had sacrificed a hand.

One must understand that for cultivators, their limbs are incredibly important; once lost, it becomes extremely difficult to break through to higher realms.

The higher the cultivation level, the greater the loss.

Though there are ways to recover, once it reaches the Golden Core level, any new limb will never compare to the original one, possibly becoming a fatal weakness at critical times.

Changhe Zhenren’s strike had undoubtedly stripped away at least half of the opponent’s Dao Fate!

Yet, no matter how angry he was, he dared not stay for revenge—keeping the green mountains means not worrying about firewood; having his life was better than losing it.

In the next moment, a powerful pulling force erupted from the rift in space, wrapping around Wang Chen’s magical flying ship and suddenly yanking it, pulling it into the fissure.

Wang Chen felt a rush, as if he were thrown into a massive whirlpool, completely losing control.

But this strange situation lasted only a moment; when he regained his senses, he was astonished to find himself on the peak of Boat Leaf Peak on Changhe Island, with the shrunk magical flying ship quietly hovering before him.

On the cloud platform, Changhe Zhenren sat cross-legged in a white robe.

Wang Chen hurriedly bowed and said, “Thank you, Master, for saving my life!”

“No need for such formality.”

Changhe Zhenren smiled and replied, “As a Master, it is my duty to protect my disciple. You represent our sect and lineage in the West; if you were to die, what face would I have?”

Wang Chen chuckled bitterly, “I never thought the Buddhist sect could be so shameless!”

Ambushing a mid-level Purple Palace cultivator with a higher-level Golden Core is simply without limits!

Originally, Wang Chen had the magical flying ship for protection, and with the two treasure symbols bestowed by Changhe Zhenren, he could escape even when facing an initial stage Golden Core. He never anticipated encountering a higher-level Golden Core!

Fortunately, Changhe Zhenren had foreseen such a possibility and provided him with an additional life-saving talisman.

“They will never admit it,” Changhe Zhenren said leisurely. “The one who attacked was Qiu Jianshan, who, interestingly, has deep connections with our West Sea Sect.”

This higher-level Golden Core cultivator now lives as a loose cultivator, but before condensing elixirs, he was an inner sect disciple of the West Sea Sect, known to Changhe Zhenren.

However, Qiu Jianshan later betrayed the West Sea Sect and fled to the Western regions to escape the sect’s pursuit.

It’s unclear what opportunities he encountered, but he successfully formed his Golden Core.

It seems he has significant ties with the Western Buddhist Sect, willingly serving as their enforcer, disregarding the dignity of a Golden Core by ambushing Wang Chen, a Purple Palace cultivator.

“Qiu Jianshan is narrow-minded and vengeful. Having suffered a great loss, he will undoubtedly harbor resentment,” Changhe Zhenren said in a deep voice. “He can’t touch me, but he will surely come after you. Therefore, do not leave the sect easily in the near future. Stay on the island and focus on hidden cultivation.”

Wang Chen naturally had no objections: “Understood.”

Changhe Zhenren nodded, “But you need not worry too much. I severed one of his hands, and even if he uses the red lotus and white lotus from the Buddhist sect to regenerate his limb, it will take years for him to recover his cultivation level.”

“However, Qiu Jianshan has many followers, most of whom are ruthless and cruel, so you must remain vigilant!”

Taking advice is wise, and Wang Chen was certainly not one to ignore it. With his Master’s words, Wang Chen would not seek trouble for himself!

He decided to shift the topic: “Master, I am considering crafting a life treasure. I hope you can provide some guidance.”

This recent encounter made Wang Chen realize that although his cultivation level surpassed that of his peers, he was severely lacking in life-saving measures against higher-level enemies.

Had it not been for Changhe Zhenren’s foresight and preparations, the consequences for Wang Chen would have been dire!

Though he possessed many treasures, none were the perfect protective or offensive tools for him. Items like the Heavenly Net for Exorcising Evil, Supreme Mysterious Spirit Dragon True Form Image, Thousand Transformations, Life Creation Cauldron, and Qing Qian Kun Mirror were not ideal for combat.

As for the Concealed Dragon Stick and Chini Sword, their rank was insufficient.

Wang Chen was the only one who felt this way; if other Purple Palace cultivators had as many treasures as he did, they would be overjoyed.

However, the calamities Wang Chen faced were far beyond what other Purple Palace cultivators could imagine!

Creating a personalized life treasure was merely a way to enhance his chances of survival during trials.

“Life treasure…” Changhe Zhenren pondered for a moment, then said, “Logically, given your current cultivation level, it’s a bit early to forge a life treasure.”

Typically, only high-level Purple Palace cultivators consider or prepare to refine a life treasure.

This increases the likelihood of successfully forming a Golden Core.

A Purple Palace cultivator with a life treasure has a slightly higher success rate in condensing elixirs.

But life treasures are not easily obtained; just the heavenly materials and treasures required for refining could bankrupt a cultivation family.

Moreover, one would need to enlist at least a Golden Core level weapon refining master!

“Very well!” Changhe Zhenren waved his robe sleeve and tossed a Jade Slip to Wang Chen: “This contains records of seven hundred fifty-nine types of treasures, covering all five elements. Take it back and study it carefully. Once you’ve decided on a life treasure, inform me.”

“I will provide you with some materials.”

Wang Chen was overjoyed: “Thank you, Master!”

This is the advantage of having a sect and a Master. If he were an ordinary loose cultivator, not only would he not receive free treasure materials, but even obtaining this Jade Slip filled with treasure data would be nearly impossible.

With Changhe Zhenren’s support, he felt even more confident in forging the perfect life treasure for himself!
