Chapter 236 Part 2: Charlotte: Your Daddy Is the Savior (2)

Charlotte leaned in and gently arranged her daughter’s hair, looking at her adorable face with a smile of mischief, and softly said:

"So, as a magical girl, it’s not strange for me to know him, right?"

Chu Wang Shu looked at Charlotte’s face in confusion.

Fighting monsters, the magical girl’s seniors, heroes, and saviors…

These keywords thrashed around in her mind, causing her brain to freeze under the immense amount of information.

After a moment of confusion, her sweet daughter’s first reaction was that Charlotte was bragging. If Dad were really that amazing, he wouldn’t have to work so hard every day, without even a little time for fun!

But if it weren’t for this, how would Dad know a girl like Charlotte? Besides… she wouldn’t need to use magic to entertain herself, right?

Chu Yuanqing stayed silent. Charlotte’s words were clever; they weren’t exactly lies, and they couldn’t be exposed, because from the perspective of Dreamweaver, her pure white self was indeed on the front lines and a senior to all the magical girls.

The other three little idols, shocked, found it even more reasonable.

You see, in theory, Little Qing shouldn’t know Charlotte either, but the two must have some connection; otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense for them to be so close. Now that the identity of magical girl is revealed, it’s easy to imagine reasons to justify it.

However, at the same time, with some memories returning, they instinctively felt something was off.

Chu Wang Shu looked into Charlotte’s eyes, filled with affection and fondness, and for a moment she felt dazed, even starting to believe what the other girl said.

Thinking carefully, Dad is indeed very mysterious. He refuses to share any information about Mom, and he never mentions his past before coming to Sea City. Even the place that is said to be Mom’s grave sometimes feels like a special disguise.

Moreover, when Charlotte says this, many of Dad’s actions seem to match the symptoms of battle scars.

For example, when he hears Mom’s name, his emotions become very complicated, and he falls silent and lost in thought.

Also, in recent years, he has become increasingly withdrawn for unknown reasons, sometimes forgetting things and becoming so dull that he seems almost lifeless.

Wait a minute, does this mean that Dad’s recent return to normal might be because he met Sister Charlotte?

The lovely daughter has completely understood what kind of person Charlotte is. She feels that even a girl can’t help but fall in love, even with Dad, who is as stiff as a block of wood. He might not be able to resist the enchanting charm of this beautiful and warm person.

No, no, I must not jump to conclusions!

Dad is not a bad uncle who would make a move on a 17-year-old girl!

Although… if the person is Sister Charlotte, it seems like it might not be a problem after all.

Chu Wang Shu shook her head, clearing her increasingly tangled thoughts. Her little face was serious as she asked:

"I want to believe Sister Charlotte, but if Dad is really the hero fighting such monsters, why does he live in such a difficult situation? Our family’s savings aren’t even six figures, and…"

Charlotte voiced her own question:

"And your dad hasn’t shown any supernatural abilities in 17 years, has he?"

The sweet daughter nodded in agreement. She didn’t think her dad’s finances were what a hero or savior would have. Besides, what kind of person could have magical powers and not use them for 17 years? That just seemed strange.

Chu Yuanqing had never mentioned the past of the old days in 17 years. Almost instinctively, she wanted to stop Charlotte, but after hesitating for a moment, she chose not to interrupt Charlotte’s words.

Things were different now; even if she didn’t speak up now, she would find a chance to reveal the truth during this journey.

From this perspective, letting Charlotte share some information for her daughter to slowly digest and accept was a better approach.

Charlotte took a sip of wine and smiled as she asked back:

"Little Shu wonders, how many monsters did you meet on Canton Street?"

Chu Wang Shu did not know how the conversation changed to this topic, but honestly shared her thoughts:

"There shouldn’t be many, right?"

"In all my years, I have only met them twice, and both times were in these last two months. If there were really many of those monsters, it wouldn’t make sense for the public not to know about them."

As the girl said this, she curiously asked:

"Sister Charlotte, are those monsters like in the cartoons, randomly born in some places, and then every time, magical girls secretly take care of them?"

The Last Diva shook her head, showing a gentle smile, and softly said:

"There are many, oh, those monsters are as numerous as the stars, enough to create waves that could drown an entire continent, appearing all at once, posing a terrifying crisis that could destroy the world."

Charlotte picked up a French fry, fed it to her lovely daughter, and after watching her eat it obediently, she happily raised a finger and continued to speak:

"Here’s a little hint: that kind of monster was born 17 years ago, while magical girls have only come into existence in the last ten years. The total number of monsters that magical girls have defeated is probably less than one billionth of the whole amount."

Chu Wang Shu felt even more confused. Less than one billionth? How did she feel like she had uncovered a crisis that could be the end of the world by digging into her father’s past?

Speaking of which, even if this news is true, is it really okay to talk about it here? Besides, she probably doesn’t have the right to listen, does she?

Xie Qingxuan thought of the Disaster Wave from her memories and fell silent.

That City of the Sky had faced countless disasters like this one.

Tang Liuli stopped drinking; she was afraid that if she took a few sips, she would miss out on such explosive information, and she began to question the origins of those memories.

Kirimi Miyuki was already prepared in her heart. When she drew those disaster beasts by hand, she gradually understood that these monsters were definitely not the light and fluffy things from children’s magical girl shows, and she had certain expectations about reality.

Charlotte didn’t keep them in suspense. She completely ignored the rules of the Countermeasures Bureau, the bans mentioned by Dream Weaver, and the hidden rules of magical girls, and continued:

"In simple terms, those monsters appeared all at once 17 years ago. Our world experienced a crisis that could have overturned civilization, but it was quickly solved and suppressed, which is why it has turned into the present situation."

The Last Diva said this, then changed the subject, smiling as she spoke:

"Does Little Shu know that wall? That wonderful building that stretches across the world, seen as some kind of astronomical phenomenon, shocked everyone when it first appeared, making many feel like the end of the world was near."

"Theories about ancient civilizations, aliens, mirages, advanced technology, and amazing natural wonders… many ideas came and went, and the discussion slowly faded, becoming just a part of everyday life."

"The truth is, it suppressed the Disaster, saved the world, and helped peace last for 17 more years, until magical girls were born to fill in the gaps and hunt down the Disaster."

"Magical girls truly are the guardians of peace, but without that wall, they would never have existed."

Chu Wang Shu vaguely understood what Charlotte was trying to say, but deep down, she couldn’t believe that answer. She looked at the girl she just met, who felt like family, her lips moving, unsure of what to say.

The smile at Charlotte’s lips grew in the music of the orchestra. She felt like a fairy from an adventure story or a bard in a tavern, her clear eyes holding deep emotions that spanned across time as she softly said:

"Little Shu, come meet the distant past."

In a daze, wonderful magic engulfed the Twelve Apostles Winery, blue fire shining brightly in the little idol’s soul, creating images from the world beyond.

Under the sky where black snow falls, the Disaster Wave, deeper and endless than the ocean, devours the desolate land and invades the crumbling main city. The storm rampages through the gloomy world, announcing the end of humankind.

But rising above all despair is the fire that slowly ascends.

Chu Wang Shu felt a bit dazed; she had never seen a fire so grand and bright, hot enough to seem like it would destroy everything, yet gentle enough to bring hope.

Levatin’s fire drowned the Disaster Wave, consumed the storm, drove away the enemies, and also devoured the brave warrior holding the sword.

The scene cleared away the flames, removed the obstacles, and brought into focus what was true.

The young man’s handsome and cold face, along with his body covered in wounds, climbed through the fierce fire, leaving behind immortal scars. He walked over burning flames and corpses, cut open his wrist with his sword, letting a great amount of blood flow, and sighed as he looked at the fire slowly dying in the distance. The deep red of his eyes, like lava, seemed even brighter than blood for a moment.

Chu Wang Shu’s expression froze, making it hard for her to come back to her senses. She actually recognized that face, which looked so much like her father when he was young, only younger, colder, more lonely, and… sadder.

This is Chu Yuanying, her father when he was younger.

In the scene, the young savior walked the earth. He was like cutting his flesh to feed the eagles, regularly using his own blood to extinguish Levatin, preventing this power from uncontrollably affecting the main city.

Chu Wang Shu was silent. She watched her father in a moment from an unknown past, unable to help but press her lips together, her heart aching painfully.

Why stand in that place to face an enemy that seems hopeless?

Why hold a dangerous power that could burn like fire, like a double-edged sword, to face an endless enemy? Even his hand holding the weapon was burned, the bones and sword hilt seeming to merge as one. How much pain must that be?

The girl was confused. Why was it so painful and yet she did not cry? Is there something even sadder and harder to bear than this?

Chu Wang Shu once heard a saying.

The heart of a person is like a container; once it is filled to the brim, it will break, and until it is pieced back together, even the saddest things won’t seem sad anymore.

Is that how her father is? Will someone help to piece his heart back together?

The sweet daughter couldn’t help but think wildly. She had no room to question if this was real, but could only get lost in the memories created by magic, until everything came to an end. The corners of her eyes had already turned red, and tears filled her eyes, like pearls falling from a broken string.

Charlotte gently wiped away her daughter’s tears with her hand, softly holding her in her arms, as if telling a story in the child’s ear, quietly expressing an epic buried in the past:

"We call that wall ‘Pure White.’"

"Seventeen years ago, the person who created ‘Pure White,’ suppressed billions of Disasters, and quietly saved the world was your father—Chu Yuanying."
