Chapter 317: The Truth of the New World

“So the Saint attacked the Divine Clan to stop the Long Clan?” You You asked.

“What are the Long Clan? Why would Xuan Ling bother with them?” The Nether King shook his head. “She didn’t descend for petty reasons—Xuan Ling came to save the world!”

“Save the world?!” The group gasped. They understood “Xuan Ling” meant the Saint, but how did saving the world connect to the final World-destroying Calamity? Had her efforts failed?

“After arriving in the Mortal Realm, Xuan Ling founded an immortal sect exclusively for female cultivators. She openly protected women and defied all other sects, clinging to the last shred of hope. Her plan was to slowly reverse the systemic harm against women.”

The Nether King’s expression darkened. “When I first met Xuan Ling, she’d just destroyed the Mortal Realm’s top sect single-handedly. She rescued over a hundred newborn girls moments before they were refined into pills.”

“…” A hundred infants? The sheer depravity left them speechless.

“F*ck!” Even Feng Rong swore. Yuan Qi’s brows furrowed deeply.

Such cruelty was unthinkable now—even the vilest evil cultivators wouldn’t target newborns openly. Yet back then, this was done by a “righteous” sect. These weren’t humans but monsters worse than the demon tribes.

“Xuan Ling slaughtered every disciple in that sect. Rivers of blood stretched three thousand miles—I barely kept up with collecting souls!” The Nether King clicked his tongue, unmoved. “After that, the Mortal Realm knew peace… briefly.”

“Then what?” You You pressed.

“Then?” The Nether King sneered. “Xuan Ling angered too many powerful people. Though mortal, her world-shaking powers made her unbeatable. If her female cultivators had matured, the world might’ve been saved. But even her strength couldn’t stop fools hellbent on destruction—like the Long Clan.”

The group tensed, sensing the Divine Clan’s doom approached. “What did they do?”

“Oh, nothing much.” The Nether King shrugged. “While Xuan Ling was away, the Long Clan attacked her sect under the guise of revenge. They slaughtered every disciple, snuffing out the world’s last hope.”

Silence.

So the Saint massacred the Divine Clan in retaliation. Suddenly, their extinction felt justified.

“The Divine Clan butchered her people, so she exterminated theirs. Fair trade.” The Nether King tilted his head. “Though the Long Clan led the attack, the other Divine Clans’ silence made them accomplices. They watched and did nothing—unworthy of being called gods.”

Feng Rong and Yuan Qi lowered their eyes. You You understood now—when disaster strikes, bystanders share the blame. No wonder Xuan Ling cleansed the entire Divine Realm.

“The world was beyond saving. Only destruction and rebirth remained.” The Nether King sighed. “But when Xuan Ling pursued the Divine Clan, they fled into the Demon Realm. The troublemaking Demon God ignored the Heavenly Dao’s warnings, letting some escape.”

“Demon God?” You You blinked.

The Nether King explained: The Six Realms were governed by three deities. He ruled the Nether Realm (life, death, reincarnation). The Heavenly Dao governed the Human, Divine, Immortal, and Demon realms (order). The Demon God controlled the Demon Realm (chaos and Darkness).

Abandoned by the Heavenly Dao, the Long Clan became Bone Dragons in the Demon Realm. But their grudge against Xuan Ling festered. They plotted to invade the Three Realms, turning everything demonic.

Thus, Xuan Ling sealed Heaven’s Sacred Mountain to trap the Bone Dragons.

“That damn Demon God loves chaos. If not for him meddling, Xuan Ling could’ve wiped out the Bone Dragons outright!” The Nether King side-eyed You You. “Still, the seal worked.”

“Afterward, Xuan Ling and I reset the world.” The Nether King’s voice turned bitter. “We gathered every soul across the Three Realms—Divine Realm included—into the Nether Realm. I worked nonstop for millennia! Now I finally nap, and you brats wake me for nonsense? Are you insane?!”

You You’s eye twitched. Someone really hated his job.

“Is the gender imbalance the Heavenly Dao’s punishment?” she asked. Though the Long Clan started it, humans perpetuated the cruelty. If gods were punished, shouldn’t humans face consequences too?

“The Heavenly Dao’s not that petty. He just revoked humanity’s spiritual roots.” The Nether King rolled his eyes. “The World-destroying Calamity was humanity’s own doing.”

“Then why are women so rare now?”

“Because of their final wish.” The Nether King leaned forward. “When those murdered women reincarnated, they begged me: ‘Never let us be reborn female.’ Their soul-deep hatred couldn’t be erased.”

You You: “…”

Feng Rong: “…”

Yuan Qi: “…”

So women vanished because no soul wanted to be one.

“I granted their wish. To maintain balance, we created the Spirit Gathering Pool.” The Nether King spread his hands. “It forms bodies from blood, creating ‘strange people’ when too few choose female rebirth. Celestial maidens exist to soothe that lingering resentment. Until it fades, the World-destroying Calamity isn’t truly over.”

A heavy silence fell.

The past still choked the present. The calamity continued… because some wounds never heal.

“…”
