Chapter 487: Ridiculous Nobles

Teresa was almost back to Winterfell City. On the way, she picked up a newspaper.

This newspaper was very interesting; it printed a "Declaration to the People of Presea."

Teresa looked at the signature at the back and felt that something was off.

How could these be the people I sent to Avalon Academy?

Damn, what are they trying to do by issuing this declaration?

Teresa did not yet know that many of her friends were under the control of the Grand Prince.

For the most beloved princess, the crown prince did not dare to be careless at all.

Those young nobles belong to Teresa, and they also belong to the crown prince.

But now, they have a third identity; they are no longer anyone’s people, but the League of National Salvation.

Teresa rushed quickly toward the direction of Winterfell City. She did not yet know that those people had returned, but a woman’s sixth sense told her that something big was about to happen!

She thought very simply; if Easley saw this newspaper and this declaration, he would probably get rid of those young nobles, no matter where they were!

……

"We do not belong to any family." The leading noble stepped forward boldly, "We are the League of National Salvation!"

"League of National Salvation?" Easley narrowed his eyes, "Is something wrong in Presea? I don’t think Presea needs anyone to save it right now."

"We have come to discuss terms." The second noble stepped forward.

"Make a deal? Bring your leader here; you have no right!" Easley sneered, "Or are you saying that another country has paid you to rebel?"

"Our leader? No, no, no, we stand for ourselves, for all the people of Presea!" The third noble girl stepped forward.

"Standing for the people of Presea?" Easley was a bit surprised, "Do you really think you are worthy? Do they need you to speak for them? Tell me, who allowed you to represent them!"

Easley did not immediately negotiate with them.

It is well-known that having an advantage and a strong presence is very important in negotiations.

Only by overpowering the opponent can a beneficial agreement be reached.

Easley did not know exactly what they wanted to do, but as long as he kept pushing them down, he could minimize the losses.

It would be best to resolve this issue peacefully, and then settle things slowly afterward.

Let them know that being the first to speak out comes with a price.

Don’t say it’s just in this era; even in modern times, there are many who resist capitalism.

Like those who exposed the toxic milk powder or the gutter oil, everyone calls for their protection, but where are they now?

Settling scores in autumn is the right way to go.

"Hmph, they live a humble life under the rule of tyranny and brutal violence. They are small, submissive, complacent, without any hopes, numb and weak, mocked by others, and slaughtered at will." Another noble stood up and said through gritted teeth, "They are no longer human; they have become pets! No, not even pets—they have been turned into poultry by this system; they are no longer living, breathing people! With such a state, how can they stand up for us?"

"And!" another noble added, "With all-encompassing control, tight surveillance, and a prevalent culture of informing, the people have no privacy; everything is exposed before you. The whole society is like an open prison, every word and action of the people is strictly monitored, and everyone lives in fear, afraid of making mistakes. With such fear, how can they dare to say no to you?"

"If this goes on, the country will be finished, and the people will be finished. We cannot allow this system to continue!" Someone else stood up and said, "In a country like Presea, they need dignity; they need to live, not to be oppressed all the time! Workers should not die just because they lose their ability to work, and the same goes for farmers! They are all vibrant lives and living, breathing people!"

"So, you are meddling and speaking out against injustice? Hah…hahaha…" Easley laughed, holding his belly, "No, are you here to make jokes? The ones oppressing them, turning them into this—didn’t your families have a hand in it?"

"As long as you listen to our demands, all of this can be resolved!" another person spoke up.

"Alright, alright, tell me, what do you really want?" Easley felt that this negotiation was no longer necessary.

In the words of the Werewolf game, these people have completely fallen apart!

If you talk about the issue of the firstborn inheriting, I might get a headache.

But what nonsense are you talking about now? Speaking for the people, I’ve never seen anything so foolish.

The people, isn’t that just property? Isn’t it just a string of numbers? If you speak up for the people, how is that different from speaking up for a bunch of greens?

Moreover, when you talk about this, don’t you care about the opinions of your own family?

Instead of saying the royal family oppresses the commoners, it’s better to say that all the nobles are doing this.

Nobles reap from the commoners, the royal family reaps from both the nobles and the commoners, isn’t that how it is?

"First, release the crown prince." The leader stepped forward, "Second, retract the two additional taxes."

"Third, abolish all forms of serfdom…"

As the noble spoke one condition after another, Easley couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"Finally, abolish the monarchy, establish a temporary government, and hold a constitutional assembly… Among the most important points is to abolish the nobility."

The noble let out a sigh, "This is our demand."

"Hahaha… No, stop joking! Besides the first point, do you have any real demands?" Easley pointed at the crowd, "Abolishing the nobility? Think for yourselves about what you’re saying! Don’t forget, you are nobles too! I thought it was someone’s scheme, but it turns out to be just a bunch of children causing a ruckus…"

"Hurry back home and talk to your fathers about these things."

"What you said is simply offensive to my ears."

"We are serious," said the leader of the nobles. "If you don’t agree, we will have to use force."

"Just you? Among you, there isn’t even one eighth-tier!" Easley raised an eyebrow, "Could it be that you are being controlled by spiritual magic, sent here to walk to your deaths… and then…"

The more Easley thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

How can nobles have such ridiculous thoughts, such strange ways of thinking?

So, there is only one truth: someone wants to make them die here.

Their purpose is too clear; they want to make me enemies with many nobles, disrupt the current stability, and even declare war on our country…

Phew, luckily, if they declare war, I would have a good reason.

Damn it, which country would say it is for the benefit of the common people, abolish the nobility, and declare war on me?

If a country truly dares to say that, then it is an enemy of the entire noble class!
