Chapter 495: Escape to Safety

Teresa ran with the group for a long time and eventually reached the seaside, stopping only when she encountered a team of people.

At this distance, they should not be able to catch up, but this was still Presea’s territory, and she felt a little uneasy.

"Who are you?" Teresa asked, watching the newcomers carefully.

Those people were dressed in primitive tribal clothing, and leading them was a Shaman, with around a hundred people in total.

Besides these people, there were also several vehicles.

"Your Highness, we come on the orders of Grand Duke Osiris to assist you," the leading Shaman said with a gentle smile. "Child, the Presea Empire can no longer accommodate you for the time being."

"How can you prove it?" Teresa did not let her guard down.

The Shaman took out a Magic Stone.

Soon, the figure of Grand Duke Osiris appeared in the Magic Stone.

"Your Highness." Osiris silently looked at Teresa.

"Huh… Duke." Teresa’s gaze was somewhat complicated.

This was her first real conversation alone with Osiris; they had spoken very few times before.

If it were before, Teresa would have felt too shy to face Osiris, after all, Karoso was dead.

But now, with Karoso alive, Teresa felt a little relieved.

Teresa turned to look at the remaining soldiers, and she couldn’t feel happy again.

During the escape, four more nobles had fallen, leaving fifty-nine, while the remaining soldiers totaled two hundred forty-two.

This revolution had completely failed.

"Presea is no longer safe; for now, you should go with them to the Kingdom of Persia and hide." Osiris said softly, "I know what you need to do, and we must plan carefully."

"Okay." Teresa nodded but felt a little confused. "The communications in Winterfell City should have been blocked. How does the Duke know we are in trouble?"

"Neymar can communicate normally."

"Neymar is awake?" Teresa was suddenly very happy; this is a strong ally!

"Yes."

"To find the Prince, we need not only cleverness but also the guidance of our ancestors," said the Shaman with a mystical expression.

The Shaman profession is a bit different from others; they are more like wizards from primitive tribes.

They worship gods and also honor their ancestors.

"I can’t communicate with you for too long, or I might be tracked," Osiris said. "Stay safe."

"I will!" Teresa’s face was full of determination.

"Where is Karoso now? Why can’t I talk to him?" Osiris asked again.

"I don’t know either," Teresa replied helplessly.

Karoso said he was in Acheron, but he was just outside a moment ago.

Besides, with Karoso’s skills and personality, he could have wandered off anywhere in the past day or two.

Anyway, it’s good that he is safe.

"Hmm."

Osiris ended the communication.

"When are we leaving this place?"

In the past, Presea was Teresa’s home. Although it was cold, every time she stepped onto Presea’s land, her heart felt warm.

And now, she just wanted to quickly take everyone away from this hellish place.

"My lord, we need to wait patiently for a moment," the Shaman bowed.

"Um…"

Just then, a groan caught Teresa’s attention.

She saw Ryleyev, who had been knocked out earlier, slowly waking up.

Teresa went to his side and quietly looked at him, "Are you okay?"

So many people died while the living fought their way out, and he, who had only fainted, was still alive—one must say he was very lucky.

"Where are we? How is everyone? What happened to the revolution?" Ryleyev quickly jumped down from someone’s back.

"The revolution failed. I brought you all out to escape, and now… I don’t even know where we are," Teresa said, astonished that Osiris’ people could find her when she didn’t even know her own location.

"Your Highness, you should let us die there!" Ryleyev said excitedly. "We want to wake up the numb people with our blood! But we survived and ran away in shame. How can the numb people see our courage and determination?"

"Don’t worry, your sacrifice is worthwhile." Teresa sighed and rubbed her temples. "Do you really think that without me and Karoso, you could bravely die in battle and warn the world? Stop joking. In front of a ninth-level strong person, given the situation at that time, you wouldn’t even be able to die. The more likely outcome is that you would all be captured, and this would become a farce, unless you all committed suicide. But suicide is suicide, and dying in battle is something different."

She finally understood what kind of mindset Karoso had when facing Aileen.

He needed to be affirmed, but also guided.

These people are still too young.

They are filled with passion, but without guidance, their sacrifice would be meaningless.

Actually, Merlin had guided them as well, but he really didn’t believe they could cause a disturbance in Winterfell City and make it out alive. He also truly thought that Easley would be ruthless, so he didn’t explain what would come next.

After all, when your nobility reaches your capital and threatens the palace, why spare them?

Right now, these people are probably making history.

I can only say that Karoso is too strong, summoning two ninth-tier beings by himself, which is like one person being as powerful as three!

If this were not the capital of Presea, but the capital of Persia, Karoso would have left Persia in ruins.

Don’t forget, in the story, Karoso was able to make Persia unable to raise its head when he was at the eighth tier.

"But we…"

"It is a good thing that you can leave. Your role is even bigger than you thought! This not only proves your courage, but also shows that the royal family is not as strong as it seems, and that the nation of Presea is not as mighty as it appears, proving that even a superpower has its weaknesses!" Teresa said seriously, "Young people with ambition will see your bravery, witness the empire’s decline, and recognize their own chances for success!"

"No one longs for a revolution with no chance of success, but now, they will yearn for it!"

"They will think, if you can survive, they can too! The hope of surviving will attract more people to join this cause."

"Presea, Winterfell City, we really escaped…" Ryleyev’s mind became clearer, and his eyes lit up, "Does this mean we can truly start a revolution…"

"Actually, there were many great nobles in the city at that time. If Easley had used their power, we would not have escaped at all." Teresa splashed cold water on their hopes, "But Easley, for the sake of his rule and his own pride, did not use their strength."

"And, did everyone really manage to escape, Presea?"

"No, it was our power that was too strong! Karoso has shown his strength to the whole world this time."

"If any country faced a sudden level-nine challenge, they would be in chaos; this is not just a problem for Presea."

"But, Karoso is on our side; that doesn’t mean he will act with us."

"Karoso has his own things to do; we are allies and friends in battle, but he does not have time to deal with Presea’s revolution right now, because freeing Pande is also very important, and Pande is suffering too."

"Understood, Your Highness…" Ryleyev sighed; he was convinced by Teresa.

Indeed, if they all died there, it would not only bring anger and boil the blood but also make people feel that the enemy was too strong and there was no hope.

And now, they gave Presea a harsh blow.

Ryleyev bowed deeply to Teresa, "Thank you for sending us to study, thank you for being willing to oppose your own country and stand on the side of justice, freedom, and fairness."

"If we can truly inspire more people, then our lives will be worthwhile!"

The other nobles also bowed deeply to Teresa.

Teresa suddenly felt like crying.

This strong person wanted to cry, not just because of Emperor Augustus’s death, not just because of the falling out with her siblings, not just because her older brother had tricked her like a fool, not just because her brother had turned into the empire’s monster, the vampire of the empire.

It was also because these people bowed not because Teresa had saved their lives, but because Teresa stood on the side of the revolution, planting the seeds of change.

They really did not think about themselves; they placed their lives on freedom and justice, on speaking up for ordinary people.

They boldly betrayed their country and even their own class, just to allow more people to have what they did not: human rights.

"No, it’s still not enough! I want you to live, to witness our victory!" Teresa let out a deep breath and said firmly, "There are many things you need to do; no one is allowed to throw away their life and leave the mess for the living."

"Being ready to sacrifice for the revolution is not enough; you must dedicate your lives to this world!"

"We can do it!" Ryleyev said firmly.

Just then, a dark pirate ship slowly sailed in from the sea.

"It’s here!" the Shaman’s eyes brightened.

They saw the black sailboat speeding toward them, with a woman standing at the front, one foot on the ship and one hand holding her captain’s hat.

"Hey, Teresa, long time no see!" Elizabeth took off her hat and waved at Teresa.

"Elizabeth?" Teresa was also surprised.

Back when they were in the City of Freedom, Elizabeth was at a higher level than her and Karoso, yet she was not very skilled.

But now, she could stand on her own.

Indeed, to escape Presea, what they needed at that moment was the fastest ship at sea, a ship sailing for freedom!

……

The time turned back a bit, to the city of Winterfell.

Looking at the damaged square, Easley shouted in anger, "Karoso Colloa!"

Now, Karoso had disappeared.

Easley could not forget the battle from earlier. The ninth-tier Teresa stood alone against six Dragon Knights.

Six Dragon Knights, twelve eighth-tier fighters, and with Teresa using a lot of magic and cards to summon slaves, the cost was great; they ground the ninth-tier Teresa to death!

Yet, even though that Teresa was dead, there was an unreal feeling, as if they had not killed a person but a servant.

However, that Teresa could use cards, could use magic, could bleed, and could die—she looked just like a real human!

The moment Teresa died, the cracks in the sky vanished, and Karoso also disappeared without a trace.

All that was left was the enormous Kappa body in front of the Winter Fortress and countless bodies of the revolutionary army, proving they had once been here.

Karoso really managed to help Teresa and the others escape from Winterfell City all by himself.

He truly became the greatest person of all time!

"What should we do?" Peter returned to Easley’s side. "We didn’t catch up; everyone who wanted to chase is stuck in the city."

Easley felt a lump of anger stuck in his throat.

He could roughly guess what the upcoming international meeting would be like and how the newspapers around the world would report on him.

There were phrases like "a tiger’s son" and "the worst emperor of Presea," and claims that "Presea has fallen…"

Not only that, the history of Presea might also nail Easley to the pillar of shame.

Thinking of this, Easley felt a wave of dizziness in his brain.

Those reporters do not care how strong Karoso is, how strong the enemy is, and they do not think about whether anyone else would have done better in this situation. They only take things out of context and write eye-catching news.

After this incident, many countries might change their attitude towards Presea, and they may take the opportunity to add to Presea’s troubles.

Also, those nobles will be less obedient.

It’s just a war; it’s not interesting for Emperor Easley to be involved in it.

"Teresa, is this what you wanted to see?" Easley was truly filled with anger towards Teresa.

You are a princess of Presea, and instead of thinking about Presea, you are leading a rebellion!

If Presea really falls because of you, will you be satisfied? What will you take to Acheron to face your father after you die?

"Your Majesty…" Peter sighed.

In this matter, the mistake is truly with Her Royal Highness Princess Teresa. How can anyone take advantage of the empire’s instability to harm their own country?

From Teresa’s point of view, she is not wrong.

From Easley’s point of view, as an emperor, he is also not wrong.

The problem lies in the conflict of systems and ideas, and the growing pains that come with changing times.

What Easley wants is the stability of power and the nation, a false sense of prosperity.

What Teresa wants is for the people to survive.

The current productivity has met the needs of capitalism’s transformation, and this conflict must exist.

"Huff… I’m tired." Easley sighed, "Communication, it probably can’t be blocked for too long…"

"It has already been very difficult to keep it blocked this long," Peter said.

"Understood… List Teresa as the Empire’s number one wanted person." Peter was already thinking about what to say at the upcoming international conference.

……

The prince laughed so hard when he heard the news that he almost fell over.

He really did not misunderstand; those people truly caused chaos for Easley.

However, he felt a little uneasy because this situation was out of his control.

What he wanted was the emperor’s throne, not for the country to be torn down and rebuilt!
