Chapter 709: That River

After the battle, Zhou Kailing was a bit surprised.

“Come on, taoist friend, you can hold on a little longer. Just let go of your fears, and winning will be much easier,” Zhou Kailing encouraged.

She felt a bit guilty for winning so easily, but these were the only methods she had against an opponent.

“No need, your divine abilities are unparalleled. I truly admire them,” Li Zishi said politely, without any hint of anger or sarcasm.

“So I have completed my master’s task. Taoist friend, perhaps we will meet again in the future, and if possible, we can truly battle,” Zhou Kailing said.

“No, no, no! I feel like I’ve known you forever, and I especially want to affectionately call you big brother. How could I strike against my big brother?” Li Zishi quickly replied, thinking that it was crucial not to anger this untouchable figure before him.

It was most important to send her back happily.

“You are too polite, taoist friend.”

Zhou Kailing nodded and then transformed into a beam of light, flying toward Hidden Spirit Island.

At that moment, hearty laughter echoed from the Qianling Sect’s Taichi Temple.

“Haha, I didn’t expect the Grand Elder would play it this way,” Master Qianling said with a smile.

“Anyway, who would dare provoke a cultivator like Zhou Kailing if they know a bit about her background?” said the Third Grand Elder of Qianling Sect.

“If this child advances to Great Ascension Master, no one in the entire cultivation world would dare to provoke her,” the Grand Elder of Qianling Sect said.

Master Qianling and the Third Grand Elder nodded in agreement.

“In future battles, placing this child in the human race camp will probably shatter the hearts of many beast kings.”

“It could be of great use; I will mention it to the Grand Elder when the opportunity arises,” Master Qianling said after some thought.

Meanwhile, back at Hidden Spirit Island, Zhou Kailing was saying goodbye to Xu Fan.

“Master, I have to leave, or I’ll have to wait for the next Star Ship to Qianling Immortal City,” Zhou Kailing said.

“Where are you planning to seek inspiration this time?” Xu Fan asked curiously.

“I want to go to Xiangzhou and develop some divine abilities targeting the five senses of the beast race. In the future, they might play a key role in battles between our sect and the beast race.”

Hearing his good disciple’s words, Xu Fan nodded.

“Very good, that’s a practical idea. Be careful while you’re out. If you run into trouble and can’t resolve it, come back immediately,” Xu Fan instructed.

Even though he warned Zhou Kailing about potential trouble, as her master, he would always protect her at the first moment, regardless of the situation.

“Don’t worry, Master, I will prioritize my safety.”

“Besides, with those Great Ascension stage puppets you left with me, I feel I can handle almost any problem,” Zhou Kailing said with a smile.

Zhou Kailing once again left Hidden Spirit Island, and as Xu Fan watched her leave, he suddenly remembered that he seemed to have another disciple out there as well.

“I wonder how that kid is doing; it feels like I haven’t seen him in a long time,” Xu Fan said, stroking his chin.

Just then, Xu Fan received a message from his good brother, Wang Yulun.

“Big Brother Xu, hurry over here! There’s something amazing here!!”

One message with a location made Xu Fan’s imagination run wild.

He stopped watching the live stream of the exchange between the two sects and flew directly to the location Wang Yulun mentioned.

It was a small valley surrounded by mountains, with a very unique terrain.

The entire valley was about the size of a village, and a clear stream flowed through it.

Wang Yulun and Xing were enjoying some grilled fish together.

“What have you found?” Xu Fan asked curiously.

“Big Brother Xu, I discovered that this grilled fish can actually enhance cultivation talent and comprehension,” Wang Yulun said excitedly, urging Xu Fan to sit down and try it.

Xu Fan sat down and took the grilled fish from Wang Yulun.

He frowned slightly as he noticed the charred parts on the fish.

“You’ve lived over a thousand years, and you still can’t handle a simple fire,” Xu Fan said, summoning a Dao technique puppet to take over Wang Yulun’s spot.

Xu Fan tore off half of the fish using spiritual energy, absorbing its nutrients directly into his body. He closed his eyes, carefully sensing the effects.

His eyes lit up. It really did seem to enhance talent and comprehension. Though it wasn’t a big deal for him, he could feel a slight improvement.

“Grape, is there any record of this fish in the database?” Xu Fan asked.

“No records exist. Treasures that enhance talent and comprehension are extremely rare in this realm. Any documented ones are already in the database,” Grape replied.

Xu Fan absorbed the nutrients from the other half of the fish as well.

“Big Brother Xu, at least take a bite. I think I grilled it pretty well,” Wang Yulun said.

“I don’t know about your grilling skills, but this is wasteful,” Xu Fan said, eyeing the three transparent crystal fish in the stone tank.

“Why is it wasteful?” Wang Yulun asked, confused.

“You’ve caught the fish, so you should breed them to cultivate more. That way, you can maximize the benefits,” Xu Fan said, his eyes gleaming as he looked at the crystal fish.

“But I think these fish are spirit bodies; there’s no male or female distinction,” Wang Yulun replied.

“There weren’t any before I arrived, but now there are,” Xu Fan said, waving his hand and storing the stone tank in the Daoist artifact palace.

“Let me borrow it for research. I’ll return it later.”

“Return? Besides my wife, everything I have is yours, Big Brother Xu,” Wang Yulun said generously.

Xing, standing beside Wang Yulun, looked a bit unhappy. She wanted more of that grilled fish.

A pack of fruit-flavored gummies flew through the air and landed in front of her.

Her face lit up with joy; she didn’t need the grilled fish after all.

Xu Fan then turned his attention to the stream in the valley. Compared to the fish, the stream seemed even more valuable for research.

“This is just an ordinary stream; it shouldn’t be able to produce fish like that,” Xu Fan said, scooping up some water to examine.

Suddenly, a flash of spiritual light appeared at the stream’s source, radiating a grand and supreme aura.

Xu Fan stepped forward and instantly appeared at the source.

“What kind of incredible opportunity is this? I can’t believe I found something like this,” Xu Fan said, staring at the spring in awe.

Soon, Wang Yulun and Xing joined him.

“Big Brother Xu, what just happened?” Wang Yulun asked.

Xu Fan didn’t answer but instead looked at Xing.

“Did you feel that just now?”

“It’s just the stream. Sometimes a branch leaks some aura; that’s normal.”

“But it’s rare for fish to appear,” Xing said casually.
