Chapter 806: Clearing the Mind

"In this sect competition, I likely won’t face serious trouble. I mainly need to make an appearance and crush a few extraordinary geniuses who challenge me. This will show them that the elders of Immortal Dao Sect aren’t stepping stones for their fame," Ye Yun mused. Though his cultivation level was only at the First Level of the Earth Immortal realm, he knew some might still harbor unrealistic ambitions.

Tarnishing the Immortal Dao Sect’s reputation would not only bring glory to their own Sect Leaders but also earn them hefty rewards. Thus, even those who weren’t extraordinary geniuses but surpassed the First Level of the Earth Immortal realm would seize this chance to rise to prominence.

But Ye Yun wasn’t one to be trifled with. If challengers sought to test him, they’d need to prove their resolve. Letting himself be treated as a passive training dummy would be laughable. His intentions went far beyond mere courtesy.

"After being confined so long, it’s time to stretch my legs."

After updating the Ancestor on his condition, Ye Yun lazily stretched, momentarily tempted to wander. But he swiftly dismissed the thought, accepting his duties, and strode out.

"Are you truly confident?" the Ancestor called as Ye Yun descended the stairs. "Though you’ve mastered the Sword Path Domain, it isn’t invulnerable. A surge of potent soul power—like what you sensed from Du Jianyin—could shatter it. Are you prepared?"

"Ha! That’s unexpected. In the past, I’d have scoffed at soul storms. But now, having lost my Heavenly Immortal realm mental energy, such foes might prove troublesome," Ye Yun admitted. He wasn’t arrogant enough to dismiss mental power specialists, though they were rare. Most cultivators on Lingyao Continent focused on true qi, spiritual power, or body refinement. Few dedicated themselves to mental energy, let alone mastered techniques to counter domains.

Even the Ancestor, with two millennia of experience, had only encountered one or two such individuals—all long dead, possessing innate spiritual or divine bodies. Since then, no soul power-focused genius had reached the Earth Immortal realm.

The absurdity struck them simultaneously. Mental cultivation demanded centuries of isolation—a luxury none could afford during the coming chaos. Any sensible genius would prioritize practical combat skills.

"Still, caution is wise," the Ancestor warned. "Getting cornered by such a foe would be… inconvenient."

Mental energy experts were rare, but befriending one might prove useful. "Their greatest weakness is their frail bodies," the Ancestor added. "Close the distance, and victory is yours. Of course, they know this too. Balancing mental and physical cultivation is brutally difficult."

Ye Yun relaxed slightly. This knowledge would help him prepare, avoiding future embarrassments.

"But legends say mental cultivators have supernatural reflexes. Couldn’t they evade before we strike?" he pressed.

"Which is why you exploit spatial laws to ambush them," the Ancestor chuckled. "Strike fast. Once they’re alert, even a weakened mental practitioner can be dangerous."

"Then they’re no immediate threat. Still… how did those past experts die? They must’ve been legends. Their disappearance feels… abrupt."

The Ancestor frowned. Even he didn’t know why those figures had vanished.

"Regardless, it’s irrelevant now. I’ll uncover such secrets when I’m stronger." Ye Yun shrugged, not wishing to burden the Ancestor further.

With a shared smile, the conversation ended. Ye Yun descended the Star God Hall’s third layer. Finding the second layer empty, he searched for Qing Li, eventually detecting her faint aura on the first layer—barely, thanks to her concealing technique.

"My mental energy’s decline is glaring. Once, I’d have pinpointed her instantly." He sighed. His current First Level Earth Immortal mental power felt lacking, though his new body surpassed his Golden Core and Nascent Soul stage physiques. Comparing it to his lost Immortal spirit body was pointless—its boundless true qi and spiritual power were irreplaceable. Yet, with the Cleansing Immortal Heart Technique and top-tier Immortal Spirit Stones in his Storage Treasure, raw reserves mattered less.

"Lost is lost. Dwelling on it breeds regret."

Spotting the pink-robed girl meditating below, warmth flooded him. She’d guarded him tirelessly. Not wishing to disturb her sleep, he slipped silently from the Star God Hall.
