Chapter 11: No Secrets

Save him?

Shen Yan followed Jiuzhuan’s line of sight. The monstrously handsome man who came into view had a pale face and seemed to have fallen unconscious.

“Master, save him quickly!” Jiuzhuan urged anxiously.

Shen Yan was silent for a moment, seeming conflicted, then immediately turned and walked to a spot. She took out a bottle of potion from a shelf.

She walked quickly to Feng Xingyao’s side, pulled off the potion bottle’s cap, and reached out to pinch his cheek. However, her slender wrist was suddenly seized by his icy hand, and an indescribable chill spread.

His grip was so strong it almost crushed her wrist.

Shen Yan frowned in pain. Glancing down, she saw the weakened man still had his eyes tightly shut, remaining in an unconscious state. She guessed this was his instinctive vigilance.

Just who was he?

Her voice lowered slightly: “Let go, I’m here to save you.”

Jiuzhuan also rushed over but stopped about three steps away, seeming to have an instinctive fear and wariness. His delicate, cute little face was filled with anxiety: “Yes, Master is here to save you, let go of her hand!”

Perhaps he heard Shen Yan’s or Jiuzhuan’s voice, because he really loosened his large hand.

His hand was pale with distinct knuckles, long and powerfully built, as it fell by his side.

Seeing this, Jiuzhuan’s eyes lit up.

He actually listened!

Shen Yan immediately resumed her earlier action. She pinched his cheek, forcing the unconscious man to open his mouth, and poured the bottle of potion into it.

Then, she raised her hand to feel his forehead, checking his temperature.

This scene fell into Jiuzhuan’s eyes. His pupils suddenly constricted, and he cried out in alarm: “Don’t!”

Hearing this, Shen Yan reflexively stepped back several paces, leaving her previous spot.

But then…

After waiting a few seconds, nothing happened.

Shen Yan looked at Jiuzhuan: “What do you mean?”

Jiuzhuan looked shocked, his inner thoughts in turmoil. Coming to his senses, he quickly shook his head at Shen Yan.

“N-no, nothing.”

Shen Yan: “…”

“Then stop making noise.” Her voice turned cold.

“Mhm, mhm.” Jiuzhuan nodded guiltily, then smiled ingratiatingly and made a zipping motion over his mouth.

Shen Yan glanced at Feng Xingyao with an inscrutable look.

His aura was very weak.

But after drinking the potion, there was a slight improvement.

She thought of something, left the Extraordinary Ability Space, then took some Golden Wound Medicine and Decay-Removing Muscle-Growth Ointment that Aunt Huang had left for her from the room.

She entered the Extraordinary Ability Space again.

Shen Yan walked closer. Seeing the bloody wounds where his limbs were pierced, her brow furrowed tightly.

Feeling wary, she turned and asked Jiuzhuan: “Can I touch these chains?”

Jiuzhuan froze for a moment, then hurriedly waved his hands: “No, you would die!”

“Alright.”

Hearing this, Shen Yan nodded to show she understood.

She placed these medicines on the soft couch. When her gaze touched his handsome, bloodless face, she almost lost focus for a moment before pulling her eyes away.

She said to Jiuzhuan: “I don’t know medicine, and I don’t know how to treat injuries for others. If he makes it through, tell him to apply the medicine himself.”

“Okay, Master!”

Jiuzhuan patted his chest, promising with a serious expression.

Shen Yan walked up to Jiuzhuan, slowly crouched down to his eye level: “What secret is there between you and him?”

Her tone was very calm.

Jiuzhuan panicked and hurriedly shook his head.

“N-no, no, no secret.”

Shen Yan: “You can’t even lie properly.”

Jiuzhuan was shocked: “!” She actually saw through his lie? How amazing!

He looked at her in astonishment.

Shen Yan raised her hand and gently brushed the hair at his temple, but her voice held no emotion: “I don’t care what secret exists between you and him, but now I am your master. You must prioritize my commands. If you betray me, I… will absolutely not let you go.”

Jiuzhuan got goosebumps all over, a chill shooting from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.

He was almost scared to tears.

“I, I, am very obedient!”

“Good.” Shen Yan smiled slightly.

Shen Yan left the Extraordinary Ability Space. The feeling of weakness and sharp pain coming from her body made her feel exhausted, so she lay down on the bed and fell asleep.

This sleep lasted straight until noon the next day.

When she woke up, the feeling of weakness in her body had lessened considerably.

She wasn’t sure how much time had passed, so she entered the Extraordinary Ability Space to ask Jiuzhuan.

When she saw that Feng Xingyao still hadn’t woken up, her expression remained indifferent. She didn’t say anything, then directly left the Extraordinary Ability Space.

She remembered the ‘compensation’ the Shen Family had agreed to give her yesterday and immediately got up from the bed. She was about to open the main door when she noticed something odd.

With a ‘creak,’ the moment the door opened, Shen Yan defensively stepped back two paces.

She saw Shen Tianhao, who had originally been sitting by the doorway. With no door for support, he fell slightly inward into the room.

“Ouch!”

“…Father?” Shen Yan was stunned, her heart feeling as if squeezed.

Shen Tianhao immediately became alert. He hurriedly got up from the ground, looking intently at Shen Yan. He asked softly: “How are you feeling?”

“Much better.” Shen Yan nodded. She couldn’t help but ask: “Father, were you guarding outside the door all this time?”

“Yes.” Shen Tianhao didn’t deny it. In his heart, he believed this was the natural thing to do. He would not allow his daughter to suffer any more harm now.

Shen Yan fell silent for a moment, unsure what to say. She could only change the subject.

“Father, what about the ‘compensation’ the Shen Family gave me?”

“It’s with Father.” Upon hearing this, Shen Tianhao took out a Storage Ring and a silver Token that granted access to the Shen Family’s Library Pavilion from his Storage Space.

He handed both items to Shen Yan.

He carefully instructed: “Yan’er, you currently have no… Spiritual Energy, so you cannot open the Storage Ring. If you need Gold, just ask Father to take it out for you.”

“Okay.” Shen Yan nodded in agreement, receiving the ring and token.

Shen Tianhao felt his Yan’er had become much colder. He wasn’t quite used to it in his heart, but perhaps this was Yan’er’s original personality, or perhaps she had been hurt and could no longer fully trust others.

He said with inner remorse: “Regarding that Blood-Devouring Pearl matter, Father will find a way to locate it.”

Shen Yan frowned and asked: “Is the Blood-Devouring Pearl hard to find?”

Shen Tianhao didn’t want to disappoint his daughter. He quickly smiled and shook his head.

“Not hard.”

But Shen Yan understood his kind intention behind the words. She lowered her eyes. She felt that because of the original owner, she had already gotten a chance at revival, so she shouldn’t… and had no right to ask the original owner’s father to help her.

She said politely: “Father, you don’t need to look for the Blood-Devouring Pearl. I can handle it myself.”

Hearing this, Shen Tianhao felt very sad. His eyes instantly reddened. He suddenly reached out and hugged Shen Yan tightly, unable to hide his sorrow as he choked back tears: “Yan’er, do you hate Father? Can you please not be angry with Father?”

“Father cannot lose you!”

Shen Yan was hugged tightly by him, feeling somewhat at a loss. But she thought about it carefully. Since she had taken on the original owner’s identity, she had to fulfill the role properly and treat Shen Tianhao well as the original owner.
