Chapter 22: The Blazing Flame Dagger

Shen Yan picked up the dagger recommended by the weapon shop owner. Its hilt was black, a bit heavy, and its blade was very sharp, giving off a cold feeling from being forged.

With a smile at the corner of his mouth, the owner asked, “Second Miss, are you satisfied?”

Hearing this, Shen Yan did not speak. Instead, she waved the dagger in the air a few times. With every move, it was as if a blade wind swept by.

This scared the owner into quickly taking a step back.

The owner looked at Shen Yan with some surprise. The few moves she just made clearly showed she knew how to use a blade, and her movements were very clean and neat.

That was strange. Hadn’t Second Miss Shen only regained her senses recently?

Even Hong Ri and Yin Yue were shocked. Their eyes were fixed on Shen Yan. They wanted to ask but didn’t dare.

Shen Yan was not very satisfied. She put down the dagger in her hand and asked, “Owner, do you have any better daggers? Something more refined.”

The owner asked tentatively, “Second Miss, what do you want to use the dagger for?”

“It has its uses.”

The implied meaning was for him not to pry.

Shen Yan added, “The dagger should be more refined. I don’t have any requirements for its appearance. I don’t care about looks; I care about practicality.”

Hearing this, it was as if the owner’s thoughts were seen through. He laughed awkwardly.

He thought to himself, this Second Miss Shen actually knew this dagger wasn’t practical enough. It seemed she was also someone who knew about weapons.

The owner smiled and said, “Since Second Miss Shen has high requirements, please come into the inner room to take a look.”

As he spoke, he raised his hand in a gesture.

Shen Yan nodded. “Okay.”

After entering the weapon inner room, Shen Yan saw weapons of various styles. But at a glance, she took a liking to a dagger that was red all over, as if soaked in blood, exuding a fierce and murderous aura.

Just as Shen Yan wanted to step forward for a closer look, she was urgently stopped by the owner.

“Second Miss, this Blazing Flame Dagger has a murderous aura. You don’t have Spiritual Energy to protect yourself right now. If you touch it, you will be backlashed by it.”

Shen Yan said, “It’s fine. I want to try how it feels. If I get hurt by the backlash, that’s my own business. I won’t get you into trouble.”

However, Hong Ri and Yin Yue worriedly furrowed their brows. They spoke up, “Miss, how about we try how it feels for you?”

“No need.”

Shen Yan shook her head.

The owner knew the power of this Blazing Flame Dagger. He didn’t dare let Shen Yan try. Just as he was about to recommend another dagger to Shen Yan, his pupils suddenly contracted. He saw Shen Yan had already taken the Blazing Flame Dagger in her hand.

The owner’s breath caught, and his heart seemed to tremble. He stared closely at Shen Yan, fearing she would have an accident in his weapon shop.

One second, two seconds, three seconds…

Ten seconds passed. The Blazing Flame Dagger ‘lay’ obediently in Shen Yan’s hand. Nothing happened at all.

The owner: “???”

What was going on?

“Owner, I want this dagger. How much?”

The owner was a bit stunned. He asked hesitantly, “Second Miss, do you feel any discomfort?”

Shen Yan said lightly, “No. Perhaps it’s fate.”

Fate?

Even the Crown Prince couldn’t ‘tame’ this Blazing Flame Dagger. Second Miss Shen, a person with no Spiritual Energy at all, actually managed to handle it just by ‘fate’.

The owner found it quite absurd, but that was indeed the fact.

“Second Miss, are you sure you really want to buy this dagger?” The owner asked for confirmation again and again, still uneasy.

“Sure.”

The owner sighed softly. “This Blazing Flame Dagger costs one hundred taels of Gold.”

Hearing this, the expressions of Hong Ri and Yin Yue instantly changed, as if they heard something unbelievable.

Hong Ri puffed her cheeks and put her hands on her hips. “Owner, it’s just a dagger. It actually costs one hundred taels of Gold? You’re not trying to trick our Second Miss, are you? Our Young Master would know if…”

“Hong Ri.”

Shen Yan cut off her following words. Then, looking at the owner whose expression was faintly displeased, she said slowly, “I know how precious this Blazing Flame Dagger is.”

Hearing this, the owner’s expression softened a little.

Shen Yan frowned. “But the price is indeed quite expensive for me. Owner, could it be a little cheaper?”

The owner was silent for a moment. “Alright. This Blazing Flame Dagger has been placed here for so many years, and no one could become its buyer. Now that Second Miss has some fate with it, I can lower the price to ninety-five taels of Gold.”

It was five taels of Gold less directly.

One must know, five taels of Gold was two years of living expenses for an ordinary family.

Even so, Hong Ri and Yin Yue still felt this Blazing Flame Dagger was outrageously expensive. Though they felt this dagger was definitely not ordinary, it was still too expensive!

Shen Yan nodded slightly. “Thank you, Owner.”

Afterwards, Shen Yan took out a Storage Ring from her bosom. She called Yin Yue over. “Help me take out ninety-five taels of Gold from inside.”

Yin Yue respectfully agreed.

When her Spiritual Sense probed into this Storage Ring, she was almost blinded by the dazzling Gold. Her expression was one of shock.

She couldn’t stay calm inside.

Miss actually had so much Gold!

It looked like there should be a hundred thousand taels!

Yin Yue calmed her breathing. Her appearance looked to the weapon shop owner like Second Miss Shen’s own money was very little.

Seeing this, the owner immediately felt a bit sorry.

If he had known, he would have charged even less.

After all, he also knew the former Second Miss Shen was often pushed aside by the Shen Family.

The owner said, “In that case, just ninety taels of Gold will do.”

These words made Shen Yan’s expression change slightly. She thanked him very politely. “Thank you, Owner.”

Yin Yue: “…”

Soon, Yin Yue took out ninety taels of Gold from the Storage Ring and gave it to the owner. Then, with a trembling hand, she returned the Storage Ring to Shen Yan.

Miss was really hiding her capabilities!

She actually had so much money?!

The changing expression on Yin Yue’s face made Hong Ri beside her think she was distressed that Miss spent so much Gold.

Shen Yan took the Blazing Flame Dagger and directly tucked this refined dagger into her wide sleeve.

“Let’s go.”

“Second Young Miss, take care. Come again when you have time.”

Shen Yan got into the carriage. She took out the Blazing Flame Dagger and looked at it several times. The murderous aura it emitted was completely suppressed by her.

If one really compared murderous aura, she wouldn’t be weaker than it.

In the Apocalypse, she had killed countless zombies and had also been stained with the blood of traitors. She was an orphan, an orphan born in the Apocalypse. To survive, to become stronger, she stepped over piles of corpses to reach the peak…

She knew she couldn’t rely on anyone. To live, she could only rely on herself.

It was the same now.

Shen Yan’s eyes were indifferent. She put away the Blazing Flame Dagger and then ordered the coachman, “Go to the outskirts of Lingyan Forest.”

Hong Ri’s face showed shock. “Lingyan Forest? Miss, Lingyan Forest is sealed now. The guard is tight. We can’t enter.”

Shen Yan said, “I just want to take a look from afar. I won’t go in.”

“But…” Yin Yue wanted to persuade her.

Shen Yan softened her tone. “Just a look.”

The hearts of Hong Ri and Yin Yue immediately softened. Reason told them it was not allowed, but they couldn’t refuse Shen Yan’s request.

“Alright, then just a look from afar.”
