Chapter 96: Mystic Lord
Gu Fei had just thought Senior Brother Zuo lost his mind when white-bearded elders swarmed Taiyuan Mountain, including the familiar Teaching Elder. Upon reaching Taiyuan Peak, they huddled like frightened quails, none daring to enter. The mountain foot overflowed with disciples seeking ‘immortal fortune’, though their lower status kept them barred below.
“Disciple Gu, is Senior Zuo present?”
The Teaching Elder—who’d once dared oppose both Heavenly Lord and Zuo Meng—stood foremost. He’d been first to discover the Headmaster’s death and sole witness to their methods in Liuhe Sect. Unlike doubters, his conviction never wavered. His initial rashness now filled him with dread, driving him to pledge loyalty first when Zuo Meng returned.
Two trailing elders, equally prudent witnesses of Heavenly Lord’s might, flanked him.
“Senior Zuo?”
Gu Fei gaped at the Teaching Elder. Was this the same aloof mentor who’d taught them skills? How could this white-bearded elder shamelessly address her peer as senior?
“Senior Zuo Meng specifically.”
The Teaching Elder emphasized the name as if correcting a child.
“Oh… He’s inside.”
Exhaustion weighed on Gu Fei. After recent humiliations nearly drove her home, this absurdity erupted—how could a third-generation disciple become ‘senior’?
“Would Disciple Gu announce us…”
The Teaching Elder’s hushed request trailed off, his companions grinning obsequiously.
“Unnecessary. Follow my orders and cease disturbances.”
Zuo Meng’s voice cut through as he fused the jade talisman with the mountain. Arcane energies stirred while he prepared his scheme, ignoring the sycophants outside.
“Has Senior Zuo given commands?”
Panic gripped the elder clique. Previous power-seekers had been purged by the late Headmaster, leaving only opportunists. With their former patron gone, Zuo Meng’s displayed might made him the obvious new anchor.
“What instructions did…”
Elder stares pressed down on the junior disciple.
“He said… make me Headmaster… Maybe I misheard…”
Gu Fei stammered under collective scrutiny. With Zuo Meng’s display of power, lies seemed futile.
“Understood.”
Exchanged glances preceded synchronized bows.
“We greet the Headmaster.”
“What?!”
Thus Gu Fei became Liuhe Sect’s leader through pure farce—a dreamlike ascension everyone recognized stemmed solely from Zuo Meng’s decree backed by absolute power.
Zuo Meng ignored the ensuing commotion. Disobedience could be crushed later.
“Complete.”
The liquefied talisman seeped into stone.
Black archaic runes spiderwebbed from the infusion point, merging with bedrock to form indestructible blue-black stone. Taiyuan Mountain shuddered as this transformative energy spread outward.
Translucent ripples engulfed most Liuhe Sect, radiating Heavenly Lord-like aura. Clouds blackened with lightning snakes while the foothills became ink-rivers.
“Three rules?”
Zuo Meng discerned Human Respect’s ripples, Heavenly Lord’s storm, and Earthly Lord’s unseen black currents below.
“Full spectacle then.”
His fingertip touched the seal’s core, releasing azure energy. Countless worldly rules materialized—enough to shock the Three Great Lords who’d each mastered single principles over eras.
“My controlled rules, not this world’s. Sufficient for deception until I claim its native ones.”
Fate’s rule strand merged with the seal.
Heaven darkened. Thunder roared. Boiling blackwaters churned beneath pulsating sky-ripples. Zuo Meng’s fourth rule birthed a golden dragon straddling firmament and abyss, its presence tugging at every living soul’s destiny—for all beings possessed fate.
Four conjoined rules birthed a new seal, fading to leave four glyphs: ‘Heaven’ for Heavenly Lord in stormclouds, ‘Earth’ in river-ink for Earthly Lord, ‘Human’ etched in void for Human Respect, and Zuo Meng’s golden wyrm crystallizing as ‘Mystic’.
Mystic Lord!
Fourth sovereign after Three Great Lords!
Liuhe Sect disciples gaped. Their martial arts world of stone-splitting and water-strikes had never witnessed such divinity.
“Mystic Lord!!”
“Fourth Great Lord!”
“Gods, not martial artists!”
“Liuhe Sword Sect becomes Lord’s domain! I, Dragon Xingxu, am fortune-blessed to become Lord’s disciple without contest!”
A Lord’s dojo emergence shook the world, drawing all eyes.
